Getting equipped!

Jesus Christ meditated on emptiness: Christian...

We live in a time when the enemy is using confusion as a tool to deceive many and he is doing this right within the walls of the Body of Christ. In our second half, you’re going to hear some stunning evidence of how even popular Christian leaders are being led astray by forces that are Hell-bent on taking our eyes off the Gospel and what Christ did for us. And sadly, this deception is getting worse by the day. But there’s good news: Jesus Himself said this would happen and told us how to equip ourselves to stand strong in these times.

So what does this equipping look like?  When we are sharing our faith with our friends, family members or complete strangers, often we get questions like, is Genesis a literal account of creation or a figurative allegory? It’s a question most of our listeners have struggled with themselves.  We believe that the Book of Genesis, as well as the entire Bible, is the inerrant Word of God, breathed out by the Holy Spirit as truth. So when we’re sharing truth — and we need to be sharing it with love — how can we be prepared and equipped to best do that in all situations? Do you feel equipped to do that?

Joining us in the first segment today is Christian talk show host and author Carl Gallups. his Florida-based program, Freedom Friday is one of the leading discernment shows on radio.  Carl is senior pastor of Hickory Hammock Baptist Church in Florida, and he also hosts of YouTube Christian Apologetics – God and Country channel PPSIMMONS. He has written a book titled The Magic Man in the Sky: Effectively Defending the Christian Faith, released a few months back. You can hear him on Freedom Friday, a podcast interview show.

This was a great podcast, however I do have some concerns over something the guest speaker brought up briefly on the show, that I am just asking clarity on. He touched briefly on quantum physics, and while I don't have qualms about there possibly being an energy created BY God at the subatomic level, Carl seemed to be hinting that that enegry was literally Christ (being the light of the world). I've been doing a lot of research on this topic, especially this past week because this very thing came up in a book we used from Lifeway (Finding your identity in Christ) for a youth group retreat. The author (whom by his own admission is heavily influenced by Brian McLaren and Henry Nouwen), used the same Scripture reference in Colossions and proceded to talk about quantum physics and the energy at the subatomic level and then said that "this energy has a name. It is Jesus!". Unfortunately, this mindset, as talked about in articles by Warren Smith, is the foundation for a quantum spirituality (Leonard Sweet) that is promoted both by emergent leaders and New Agers (even as far back as Alice Bailey who said that a belief in God in all things must be taught to move forawrd the New World religion). Also, when you look at the orginal greek for the words, "hold together" they mean to "stand beside; provide for and sustain", nowhere do I find any hint of the holding together in actually being in His Creation-but simply being beside and sustaining. I am not questioning Carl and his sincerity or trying to attack him in any way, or at all suggest he is trying to promote this quantum spirituality by any means. I just am asking for clarification on what he was saying and perhaps your thoughts on this as well! God bless and thank you so much for this discernment ministry!
