Gay "Christian" worship band says many more in closet

Gay trio Micah's Rule

Gay trio Micah’s Rule

A trio of openly homosexual singer/musicians who performs as “Micah’s Rule” is making a splash on the Christian worship music scene, and the groups says there are many more like them singing in churches as well as performing in well-known artists’ groups around the world who haven’t come out yet.

The group has sprung from its home church, Wilmington’s St. Jude Metropolitan Community Church in North Carolina.

What exactly does a gay praise band sing about? In one song, “Walk the Road,” they sing:

“Sometimes you just have to be the one to set your own self free … what matters isn’t what you’re told. But how you walk the road.”

Compared to Scripture, these lyrics are quite blasphemous. Galatians 5:13: “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”

Of course, progressive Christians are celebrating the band’s breaking of barriers. According to the ultra-liberal Huffington Post, Greg McCaw, Chasity Scott and Mary Anne Hewett “don’t want their sexuality to define them.” Says McCaw:

“It’s just our back story, plain and simple, but we’re not using that as a marketing tool for our music, positively or negatively. We want to be a musical group like any other, but we realize our back story will get out.”

McCaw says there are many people who are gay in the music industry in Nashville, “but they’re so far in the closet.” He himself was the bass singer for many popular Christian musicians including Sandi Patty, Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Gatlin Brothers for 22 years. He also served as a Church of God pastor for more than 25 years in five states.

How far reaching is their music and their message? Just in their own home church, member Marcia Morgan believes their music has attracted more people to the church. Another St. Jude’s member Sherry Tucker Henderson bought copies for everyone in her family for Christmas.

“I listen to it day and night,” she said as she was driving to Florida on a trip. Henderson packed 35 more Micah’s Rule CDs to take to churches there. “It’s a message I think everyone needs to hear.”

I beginning to think that the world is not going to destroy the church it's the so called christians in the church that are going to destroy.
It seems like everyone in the church is afraid to stand up and speak the uncompromise word of God.

I do not know of a greater insult to the Lord Jesus than for a person to claim to be His-a born again Christian-and live a life that is an abomination to Him. That abomination is homosexuality no matter what form it takes. These three folks will one day stand before the Lord to be judged by Him and will doubtless attempt to convince the Lord of their good intentions by singing "for Him" for years and perhaps giving an emotional "testimony" that moved their audience to tears. And yet it will all be in vain. You see, there is no such thing as a "gay Christian". All of their reasoning will fall on deaf ears-the ears of the Lord. There are untold mutitudes of regenerated homosexuals who will tell anyone who will listen that they consider their former life style to be repugnant to them now, that they have been graciously delivered from their sins and have zero desire to return in any way to their former sins.

Perhaps the Lord will choose to save these folks in the future, but until they repent of their sins their eternal fate is hell.

  3. I am sitting here crying over this entry. I can feel the sorrow of the Father at the deception this so-called "worship band" is bringing to the churches of today. May God have mercy on our souls and forgive us for becoming so lazy that we no longer defend what is right but instead, in the name of tolerance, not only allow but embrace blatant sin in our midst.

"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries; and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:21

I wonder how many sitting in the pews exhibit these characteristics/behaviors and have not repented and turned away from their sins? If Jesus would return today, what sins would He reveal to our faces that would put us to shame?

I am tired of the "we are supposed to hate the gays, the lesbians, the bisexuals, the transgenders, etc." when I have sat in the church pews for years and not one single pastor ever preached a sermon on "divorce." Does not God hate divorce? How many pastors preaching from our pulpits are divorced, or have had affairs, or are now currently having affairs with women in our communities? Why don't we hear sermons on divorce and remarriage and remarriage and remarriage….is it that perhaps most of the people would lash out in anger and never return to hear the cotton candy, feel good motivational talks that enlighten our churches?

Leonard Ravenhill once said, "Do you know why we have so many pygmies in our pews? Because we have so many puppets in our pulpits. If Jesus came back, He wouldn't cleanse the temple, He would cleanse the pulpit."

Marie, I have never heard any pastor preach that we should hate any homosexual group. I was taught coming up to love everyone, but that doesn't mean you have to love or even like what they do.
"Love the sinner, hate the sin" was what I learned.
Far too many people equate hating sin with hating sinners. One doesn't necessarily follow the other. Look, I love my mom, but I hate that she beat me when I was a child. I loved the father of my children, but I hated that he treated me like a punching bag. There is no hatred in me for those people, but I despise their sin.
We all have the choice to yield to sin or to resist. We can choose to act on our impulses or we can choose to stand on the Word of God and overcome temptation. If, as Paul wrote, it is better for a man to be unmarried rather than to be concerned about the needs of a spouse in addition to serving God, then I posit that the same is true about homosexuals. They have the choice to yield to the impulses, or the choice to stand up and say, "I may have these urges, but since I know they are ungodly, I will NOT yield to them."

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," includes, surely, standing firm against the things we know we should not do. If we choose to do what we know is against the will of God, we are choosing to pay the price and face the consequences. If I steal, I run the risk of getting caught. If I feel lust toward a neighbor and choose to commit adultery, I will pay the consequences one way or another – if nothing else (not in any way to minimize it) I will live with the conviction of the Holy Spirit reminding me that I know better and calling me to repent, which means to go and sin no more….to turn away and not look back….to change and stay changed.

I have a friend who came out of the gay lifestyle and knew that short of God removing those desires he would live the rest of his life unmarried. He chose a life of celibacy in order to honor God. It wasn't easy but he did it. God doesn't promise easy. Ever. He just promises He will be with us through the trials and temptations and that He will forgive us if we repent — and this doesn't mean repetitive repentance and deliberate sinning. Sinning because you know repentance and forgiveness are available isn't cool. It's not like a "get out of jail free" card. Forgiveness is for mistakes, not deliberately choosing to sin.

As Christians we are called to love our neighbors and to live at peace with others as much as is possible with us. However, that doesn't mean we are to condone behavior that goes against God's will. Love them into the Kingdom, and then show them how to trust God to do what is right. It's not that difficult physically.Putting it into practice, though, can be tough when it means we have to speak up and call a sin a sin instead of pretending it isn't happening.

Love the sinner – hate your own sin. When you get finished with dealing with ALL of the sin in your own life, THEN you may be able to point others failings out to them.
But until then (and that ain't EVER happening, friend!) just work on yourself and let the Holy Spirit change others as He sees fit.

    Marie,

I am not sure why you think Christians are to hate homosexuals, this post does not imply that at all. Yes, there is a multitude of sins infesting society, however, the sin of homosexuality is a driving force that destroys God's design of family, marriage and children. It is a dangerous and deeply dark sin, one that breeds other sin such as addiction, violence, infidelity and disease.
It is a shame that this trio claims to be Christian and yet, blatantly sins against a Holy God in a way that God calls an abomination. They are a product of the modern day 'church' in America; I agree, the pulpit needs a cleansing by God. Weak preaching, feel good messages, and the desire to please man rather than God has produced multitudes of unregenerates who profess Christ and yet are not born from above.
They claim to be saved because they have followed a procedure, a method concocted by man such as repeating a prayer, making a decision, or inviting Jesus into their heart. They have not been taught about their own wickedness, their dead in sin state. They do not know about the ministry of the Holy Spirit bringing a sinner to repentance and regenerating them by the magnificent power of God. They only know of an accursed gospel that tells them they will be saved if they follow this or that step. The grace of God in saving a sinner is not mentioned, or if it is, it's twisted.

The sin of homosexuality is a sign of just how far society has gone into wickedness; there is a downward progression of sin we find in Romans 1. First idolatry, which leads to immorality, which leads to what we presently see…perversion demanding to be accepted. You may be interested in this sermon on this very subject, preached by John MacArthur – http://youtu.be/5x3WI9OWAL4

I lived the lie of homosexuality for nearly 20 years and I can tell you, it is nothing like the picture homosexuals paint. They try and portray their relationships as loving, normal, a good environment to raise kids. Honestly, these relationships are not based on love, they are based on lust, a forbidden lust. Lust is self-centered, only desiring to satisfy one person – self. There is rampant addiction in these relationships, drugs and alcohol are a big issue {even though most homosexuals deny this}. In the time I spent in this dark perversion, I saw multitudes of lesbians battling drunkenness and drugs; there was rampant infidelity, fits of jealous rage, and violence. This is NOT an environment acceptable to raising children. Plus, they cannot pro-create; that should tell them it is not natural for them to do what they do. They do not stay together for life, much like the hetero couples who do not have Christ as head of their marriage. You also may want to read http://www.frc.org/issuebrief/new-study-on-homose

I also speak out against the re-labeling of homosexuality as some sort of 'orientation' at http://iamhis-lyn.blogspot.com/2012/08/sexual-ori

If you do not believe what I say about what takes place in this lifestyle, you can hear another former homosexual's testimony by going to http://iamhis-lyn.blogspot.com/2012/08/out-of-far

I do hope you will consider listening to John MacArthur's sermon as well as checking out the various other links I've provided. Homosexuals need to hear the truth, their sins are against a Holy God, however, there is hope found only in Christ and His atoning work on the cross. To tell them truth is to display more love than they'll ever see from the world.

You should all be ashamed. God makes no errors. Man wrote the words in The Book. He erred in his ways, not God. If you are not able to accept God's creation, YOU must check yourself, live in the world God has created with you and him and her in it! Don't be stupid and uncharitable, at least. This is a beautiful world with diverse experiences and people to cherish, discoverable truths, and love for what the Lord hath wrought. Relax, the world isn't out to get you!

      Andy Hammer,

Honestly, you should be ashamed for quoting an opinion as though it were truth. Here is what the word of the Lord says, from 2 Timothy 3:16, ' All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness' , and this from 2 Peter 1:19-21, ' So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.'
There are no 'errors' in the Holy Bible…period. As for what God created, He did NOT create us to have sex with the same sex. This is an abomination to God, who is holy. Homosexuality is detestable to Him, a stench in His nostrils. His word repeatedly speaks out against homosexuality, like this from Leviticus 18:22, ' 'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.' Or this from Romans 1:25-27, 'For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.' 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 states 'Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.'

The Lord Jesus Christ speaks out against it and states that it defiles, from Matthew 15:19-20, " "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. These are the things which defile the man." The word 'fornications' is from the Greek word porneia and is defined by Thayer's Greek Dictionary as 'adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.' All sexual sin outside of marriage between a man and a woman defiles, from the Greek koinoō, defiles is defined as 'call common, defile, pollute, unclean.' We find in Revelation 21:27 what happens to those who are defiled, ' And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.' You will not enter into God's kingdom if you defile yourself with sexual sin.

This world is passing away, corrupt with the curse of sin upon it, from 1 Corinthians 7:31,'For the present form of this world is passing away. ' Repent, forsake your sins while you have time, the wrath of God is upon all who continue on deliberately in sin and reject the atoning work of Christ. You are clueless as to what the word of God even says concerning homosexuality, may God open your blind eyes and deaf ears to hear His truth, may God the Spirit bring you to repentance.
God gives us an example from His word what will happen to those who continue on in sin, explicitly the sin of homosexuality, from Jude, '
just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.'

Not clueless, dear, just non-believing. Nor am I ashamed to counter your self-serving opinion of how to treat your fellow man. I have read the Bible through, and many sections over and over. And, in returning your condescension, it's authored by humans with an historical context, in this case, when the homosexuaity that was controversial was pederasty, and not adult relationships so much. You are choosing to practice non-life affirming beliefs and the hatred and hypocisy of a religious fanatic. The history of Bible-thumping Christians in the world is what's shameful and mustn't be allowed to ascend to politcal power any more. Of course, the same goes for the similarly radical Muslims, and violent atheists like Putin. You're all the same. I know that makes some of your party happy. You all should start a reality show set in Salt Lake City. No holds barred. Oh, and you are going to continue to suffer incalculably more from the amoral businessmen running our lives than any two people having sex, which is none of your business, anyway.

Andy H. your killing me here. You are right God makes no errors, but we are a cursed lot, all of mankind is because Adam thought as you do: it matters not what God says for I will to do this thing and because of that one act by Adam, death entered the world through Adam's sin, his rebellion against God, his treachery against the Most High God. And because of Adam, death has passed to all men. Romans 5:12,1 Corinthians 15:22, Romans 3:10-18, Psalm 55:23. And this dear creation you relish is also under a curse because of Adam for he was set over it. Genesis 3:17-19. Things are not as they should be. According to God, this dear creation will be disolved with fire. 2 Peter 3:9-11.

God did not call us that we should still live according to our lusts but that through Him through Christ Throught the Holy Spirit of God we could have victory over our own rebellion which results of our self will, the will of the flesh and the lusts in our members that war against us. These things are not our friends if we are Christ's. Galatians 5:17, Romans 6:1-16. We are to count these things dead to us.

Jesus Christ Himself said I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:5-

You cannot go against His word and say you have Christ or are abiding in Him. 1 John 2:3-5, 1 John 4:6, Nor can you say you have the Holy Spirit 1 John 4:13 for if you did you would hate what God hates and love what God loves for the Holy Spirit is God.

Does not God hate rebellion? I don't believe you think He hates anything and if He did He would be unjust to do so for what right does God have to judge me? If this is your heart shaking your fist at your creator will not avail you. You will be judged and you will not come out well for there is a lake of fire waiting for all those who are not Hid in Christ, Hid in His righteousness. How can you have any hope at all in any merit you think you posses it must be on Christ's merit. He must save you.

And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Revelation 22:10-15

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10-15

Thank all of you for your responses as I have learned much from you. I can only Praise God, our Father for the healing that took place in the hearts of former homosexuals and lesbians in turning away from that particular sexual sin. The Glory belongs to our LORD. I had a friend who passed away from AIDS at the young age of 30 due to his willful sinful lifestyle and I cannot even begin to know the depth of his struggles as I have not been a part of that lifestyle. My heart still hurts over this loss as I was not a follower of Jesus Christ at that time in my life, therefore I could not even offer him the hope that he so desperately needed. May God forgive me.

Since becoming a follower of Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit has revealed much to my life. Currently I have sat in churches whose preachers have used the judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah as their platform for condemning homosexuality as if that judgement will fall on America. As a student of the Bible, I have discovered some interesting teachings from God, Himself. In Ezekiel 16:49-50, God says "As I live," says the Lord God, "neither your sister Sodom nor her daughters have done as you have done. (God is speaking to Israel here.) "Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness: neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit."

There we have it; God destroyed Sodom because of 1) pride, 2) fullness of food, 3) abundance of idleness, 4) did not strengthen the hand of the poor and needy 5) haughty, and 6) committed abomination before Me (the LORD). So yes, we have homosexual sin in this country as in every other nation on this planet and in the past, it was kept more hidden and secret in the lives of people. However, sexual sin has always existed since Eve and Adam chose to sin in the Garden, and it will continue until the end. Does this mean we excuse homosexuality? No, it is a sin according to the Word of God. The issue that breaks my heart is this….one of the easiest sins to single out today is homosexuality from the pulpit or any other ministry. It is easy to get "Amens" and "That's right preacher, preach the truth, man!" frpm us pew sitters when the preacher speaks against homosexuality from his elevated platform. And the offering plate it full to overflowing because we all are in agreement as same sex attractions have not affested our immediate families. It is easy to gather support around the church maypole when that homosexual sin is not near us. But what about all of the other sins that God hates.

If the preacher stood on the pulpit and preached what a sin divorce is and the sin of adultry associated with it…and how it adversly affects families, would the pew sitters shout "Amen!" Or how about the sin of fornication? Or how about the sin of lusting after another in our thought process while we are still married? Or how about the sin of pornography which has captured the church to no end? Would we be arrogantly and self righteously shouting "Amen, brother, preach it!" Or would we leave the church in anger and hatred?

So there are gays and lesbians singing in the praise band……are there not rapists, adulteres, divorcees, pornography addicts, fornicators, or any other sexual sin represented in praise bands in churches all across America? Yes, yes, and another yes. It is easy to single out one sin to take our eyes off of all the other sexual sins represented in the relgious institution of man for I have attended various churches where the praise bands exhibit all of the sexual sins listed above. And personally, I have yet to find the Scriptures that describe the New Testament "praise band" concept as I did not grow up in a church that one. We did not need a leader to lord over us for we all sang in one accord as the Holy Spirit led us.

And I would like to add another thought…..Do these sins of Sodom …pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness, not strenghening the hand of the poor and needy, haughtiness, and abominations…describe the nation of America today? Perhaps….and all of these sins are well represented by believers and unbelievers alike. We are not leaving the church building convicted of any sin, therefore we are not repenting as we cannot even see the sin in our own lives. it is no wonder Jesus called many of the religious folk of His day this……"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like white washed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleaness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hyposcrisy and lawlessness." Matthew 23:27-28

And then again in Matthew 23:33 "Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?" Jesus speaking to the scribes and Pharisees.

Would Jesus, indeed, speak these words to all of us today in the religious institutions of men…..where we follow the teaching of this man's book and that woman's book, and their brands of theology over the very written word of God?

      Marie,

Let me point out Romans chapter one and Jude 1:7 to you; first, Romans 1 where we find sinners suppressing God's truth with unrighteousness. They 'became fools' and 'exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.' They fell into idolatry, and a host of other sins {as you've stated}. There is a downward progression of sin in society, and it starts with idolatry. That is followed by sexual immorality, men and women living together outside the covenant of marriage as well as rampant sex with multiple partners. That is followed by what we find in verses 26-27, 'For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.' Verses 29-32 describe all the sins that suppressing truth breed as well. In short, the downward spiral of a nation comes in progressive steps, with the sin of homosexuality being the 'final straw' before God rises in judgment. So, to say this was not the reason God judged Sodom and Gomorrah is inaccurate. Do not overlook Jude 1:7 "just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire."

God abandons a nation over to its sins, as Romans 1 clearly shows, then He destroys it. I recommend John MacArthur's sermon, 'a nation abandoned by God' found at – http://youtu.be/5x3WI9OWAL4

This is why homosexuality is such a telltale sin, it means judgment looms because it's the sin that is at the bottom sin's 'totem pole', it also speaks of how depraved society has become. Do not make light of it, I know you think other sins are just as wicked; they are. But the sin of homosexuality is spoken of as being an abomination to God, not all sins are spoken of in that way. However, all sin is damning.

As for your stating this, 'So there are gays and lesbians singing in the praise band……are there not rapists, adulteres, divorcees, pornography addicts, fornicators, or any other sexual sin represented in praise bands in churches all across America? Yes, yes, and another yes. It is easy to single out one sin to take our eyes off of all the other sexual sins represented in the relgious institution of man for I have attended various churches where the praise bands exhibit all of the sexual sins listed above. And personally, I have yet to find the Scriptures that describe the New Testament “praise band” concept as I did not grow up in a church that one. We did not need a leader to lord over us for we all sang in one accord as the Holy Spirit led us.' — this is not a legitimate argument. If there is sexual sin in the church, what does the word of God say? From 1 Corinthians 5:9-13, " I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler–not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES."

I also point you to 1 Corinthians 6:11, where the Apostle Paul states 'and such WERE some of you', this speaks of repentance, a change of mind that leads to a change in living. Those who once practiced homosexuality and lusted for the same sex should no longer be doing so, for they have been washed, sanctified and justified in the name of Christ. If you have truly been 'born from above' by God the Spirit, you will NOT still be in habitual sin. There are two essential doctrines overlooked in most churches today 1. the doctrine of repentance {a forsaking, a turning away from sin} 2. the doctrine of regeneration {being born again by the supernatural power of God the Spirit} The latter is now replaced with method by man to be saved, i.e., repeating prayers, making decisions, inviting Jesus into your heart. This is a work and it is not how sinners are saved, as Ephesians 2:8-9 clearly teaches. However, it is popular to use these methods because it fills the pews…with unregenerate sinners who are still in bondage to their sin.

Every and all sin is a striking blow against the Almighty God, let us not make light of any sin…ever.

Our nation has 2 cases in front of the Supreme Court over homosexuality and gay marriage. Will it become the legal law of the land as Roe V Wade did in 1973? Do we not think the horrors of the mass shootings are the full fruit of what we have sown thru abortion? We WILL REAP what we have sown……it's a principle of the Lord. So as we have sown to abortion we have reaped much more violence in our society. And Newtown seems to have been the final straw of where a society goes that does not value it's children.

So now let's consider gay marriage. If it becomes the legal law of the land you can be assured our families will reap more and more destruction. My husband of 13 years divorced me. I have no other choice but to live out my days simply walking with Him. I did not want my marriage covenant destroyed but I had no choice. But I CAN CHOOSE to honor God the rest of my days my denying MY FLESH and HONORING MY COVENANT.

When gay marriage becomes legal it will break the flood gate and literally we will see the church awash in deception. We have gay churches now. We have Rob Bell okay with gay marriage. We have Jay Bakker okay with it. We have young people (IN THE CHURCH) okay with it because all around in society the push has been strong. But God's WORD is the STANDARD.

Be fruitful and multiply. There were no gay adoption agencies in the garden of Eden. There was Adam and Eve. And …wow…….they were able to be fruitful and multiply. They honored God and HIS WORD.

Never in a million years will two lesbains and two homosexual men EVER be able to multiply. So as a BELIEVER…..with God;'s word as the standard….Christians should know that homosexuality does not honor God.

"But I was created this way….my attraction is to the same sex……" ……No you created in the image of God..but we live in a fallen world and the tricks and lies and schemes of the enemy will always MESS WITH YOUR HEAD. That's why we must have our MIND RENEWED…with the Word of God. It's the plumb line of truth. Not what WE SAY or WE THINK or SOCIETY SAYS,,,,,it's what does HE SAY?

I think you're all missing the point. Jesus is love. Love is all. The rest of you have become modern pharisees.

"Jesus is love. Love is all."

Yes, Jesus is love, but your understanding of what that love consists of is skewed. He is also holy and just. He takes sin very seriously while we often do not. He is coming again to judge the world in rigtheousness and He will send many people to hell….many who thought they were good….many who thought He would just wink at their pet sins. He spoke about hell more than He taught about heaven. He would be an unjust AND unloving God if He just overlooked sin. Unrepentent homosexual conduct, like any other unconfessed sin, will be judged and punished by God. The only hope for any of us is the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf whereby we can be make clean, holy, and fit for heaven. When we repent and forsake anything which God has declared in His Word to be sinful, and then trust in Christ's finished work on the cross in our behalf, we are saved, born again, and filled with the Spirit to enable us to live lives pleasing to Him. Sodomy is clearly condemned in the Bible. Churches who teach otherwise have a different gospel, another Jesus…not the true God. Don't listen to men…read the Word and get to know God as He truly is,

      Mat,
Unfortunately, you've picked at attribute of God and decided it is His only one, and that because He is love, He will wink at sin. You are deluded and in error to speak of Christ as only love and not as being righteous and holy. It matters little what you say about your view on who God is, we must look at His word for truth. What does the Bible command? Repent; look in the concordance of your bible and see how often repent and repentance are found in both the old and new testaments.
What did Christ say about sexually immoral people, like homosexuals? Look at Matthew 15:18-20 for His words of truth, "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man." Defiled means 'unclean'; Revelation 21:27 makes it crystal clear what happens to those who defile themselves with sin, including the sin of homosexuality, " And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life."

Sadly Matt, you are the one who misses the point. You speak of a lopsided 'god' who is only capable of love, you do not know the God of the Bible, the God who will avenge His holiness and righteousness with fierce wrath. May you take into your heart these verses, "And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" Revelation 6:16-17
If Christ is only love, then why will He pour out wrath? Who is His wrath for? It is for the unregenerate, the defiled, those who continue on in their sins. May God open your understanding to study ALL of His attributes, namely, His holiness.

A lop-sided 'god'…a very good description for the god so many so-called 'christians' are worshiping today…a god made in their own image, to suit themselves… a god who just accepts sin….not the true God at all.

Real love, the love of Christ, doesn't leave us in our sins. Jesus came to rescue sinners and to give them new life and new desires…ones that are pleasing to Him. Would God be loving if He just let people stay in their sin? He has provided so much for us…love, joy, peace, the promise of heaven… if only we will humble ourselves, reach out, repent, and believe what the Scriptures teach.

    Great comment as always, Lyn!
