Watching the Nye/Ham Debate Live—An Update

Because of the huge media interest in the Bill Nye/Ken Ham debate at the Creation Museum on February 4 (seats sold out in two minutes online), as well as the general buzz that has been generated nationwide about the event, the live streaming option is being put on hold as we are looking into other exciting opportunities for people to watch the debate live. Ultimately, these other possible options would allow even more people to view this historic debate.

More information will come later on how to watch the debate. Meanwhile, if you signed up for the live streaming, we thank you for your interest and please know that you will be contacted once the final arrangements have been made. (Of course, if we opt out of a streaming version, you will get a refund.)

With the debate selling out, we are committed to the very best ways by which as many people as possible can also watch the debate live.

Ham, a former science instructor who emigrated to the USA from Australia over 25 years ago, is joined by the popular children’s program personality Bill Nye “the Science Guy” for this first and only scheduled debate. Each man delivers what he believes is the best information currently available for his case. Each then has an opportunity for rebuttal and afterward answers questions submitted by the audience.

The upcoming February 4 debate has already generated significant attention from national media, and tickets to attend live were completely sold out within two minutes of release.

Don’t miss this “debate of the decade”! Watch at home, or organize to show the live stream to your small group, your youth group, or even your entire church.

The debate is to be held in the 900-seat Legacy Hall lecture arena at the Creation Museum (sponsored by Answers in Genesis). The live event is not expected to be televised but is being streamed live on the web and recorded for DVD and digital download distribution to help offset significant costs in organizing and sponsoring the debate.

I am thankful for this opportunity Ken Ham has to express the truth of God's word, while presenting scientific evidence that counters the demonic fairy tale of evolution.

However, this world is deceived and many choose to deceive themselves. This is made very clear by Paul in Romans 1:18-32.

So we must ask God to open the eyes and ears of those of watching and listening so that they may come out of the deception and into the light of His truth.

Ima….I agree with you, but as Christians, we need to chose our words. We are already looked at as kooks and crazies. We can call things what they are. But calling evolution a demonic fairy tale is a little much. I can guarantee you that nowhere in this debate will you hear Mr. Ham describe it as such.

Language is so important in making sure we are heard. The second any Christian starts saying something is 'of the devil', or 'demonic'; or anytime you call someone a sinner without lumping yourself in that boat, you lose the attention of whomever you are speaking with. If we simply call it what it is, FALSE, and then back it up with Christ, our point is made without losing interest of the other side.

      Matthew,

I agree, language is very important to be heard and understood. Let's see how Paul describes those who deny the existence of God in Romans 1:28-32.

"And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them."

        Ima,

I do not require a lesson in scripture. But you make my point. Leave this kind of talk for the Bible. We can say something is false or wrong based on our faith, but let the Bible describe how Christ and the Apostles deal with it.

In this way, we do not come off as judgmental and/or self-righteous, thus keeping us in the conversation; but we let the Bible do the work. Spouting scripture does nothing by alienate non-believers. They need to see it for themselves.

Usually these kind of debates are pointless and go nowhere. Both sides having made up there minds before stepping foot into the arena. I have never seen an atheist concede defeat or fall on his knees asking, "what must I to to be saved?" In fact, Bill Nye is going to walk out of there more convinced than ever that he is right and that all Christians are morons and idiots. Please pray that the Holy Spirit shows up convicting people of their sins and that Jesus Christ is magnified. Talk is cheap.

xississ, I agree with you in that neither Mr. Ham or Mr. Nye are likely to change their views because of this debate. To say they these debates are pointless however is something that cannot be stated as an absolute. We should perhaps let God do what he will with this, including convicting people with His truth. Talk is not cheap if it contains the truth. The truth can make talk priceless.

  5. I heard on Jan 15th broadcast that you were going to list any churches that were planning on streaming the debate.
We are planning that at Emmanuel Bible Church of Star Valley (ebcsv.com)
Would you include our church in your list and let me know where I can find it?
    Can't wait!
    Thanks
