American Girl free photoIt’s a book series, it’s a collection of dolls, and it’s a video saga. Whatever you call American Girl, it’s a lucrative brand that comes with its own fan base and even shopping centers where girls from around the world find clothing, party themes and more.  Because it highlights iconic, “more innocent times” in American history, many Christian parents and grandparents assume that it’s safe to venture into the American Girl waters.

But wait…what’s this?  Yoga, breath prayers and Visualization?

I recently received this note from a friend of mine:

I had rented and American Girl movie for my grandkids over the weekend. It was about ballet, and about a third of the way into the movie, the older sister in the story began teaching her younger sister all about visualization and “transporting” herself  to overcome her fears and insecurities. I told my daughter about it, and she started asking me all sorts of questions like “What’s the difference between picturing something and visualization?”

I did my best to answer and attending the prophecy conference was a huge help, but it made me realize how much more I need to educate myself to defend my faith and sound the alarms. It was so disturbing to see.
