By now you have heard of the tragic terrorist event in France, where 12 people are dead in an apparent jihad retaliation against a publishing company who has published cartoons of the prophet Mohammed, and this morning, two more: A policewoman and a street cleaner who tried to save her, gunned down on the streets in France.
Leaders from Germany (see, German Interior Minister: Charlie Hebdo murders have nothing to do with Islam), to the U.S. are denouncing the violence, but many are cautioning against connecting this terrorist activity with Islam, saying that these attackers are not Muslim because the Muslim religion is peaceful.
So we are asking these questions of our listeners today:
1. What do you think the media would be reporting if the attackers were fanatical professing “Christians”?
2. How do the violent acts of these fanatics affect your feelings toward Muslims as a whole?
3. What verses of the Bible come to mind when you consider this tragedy?
Julaine Appling from Wisconsin Family Action is here with us in our first segment. And we’re going to get your thoughts.
Stand Up For The Truth is a radio and online ministry that covers news of the day, trends in the church and theological issues that Christians deal with and talk about every day, and we give you a place to be educated, equipped and connected to help you discern along the way. But most importantly, we point you to Christ Jesus as our Savior, and His Word – the Scriptures, as the truth that you can depend on. In fact, you should filter everything you read, hear and consume as a believer – including what you find on this program – through the Scriptures to see if it lines up.
