Today we catch up with Jay Seegert of the Creation Education Center in Wisconsin, and we discuss the importance of humility in our interactions with people, particularly when sharing the gospel or talking about creation. Being prepared to respond to questions is important, but just as important is asking questions and listening to the other person so we know how to directly address their concerns. We’ve probably all done this: when the other person is speaking, we’re not really listening – we’re just waiting for our turn and often don’t hear what was just said.
The bottom line is the authority of Jesus Christ and Scripture. It doesn’t matter as much what we think; what does God’s Word say?
“Everything is built on our starting point… that God exists, and the Bible is His inspired Word” Jay Seegert
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 1 Peter 3:15-16
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters; … Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:1-2, 26-27
