God is a God of order. In His infinite wisdom and understanding He established guidelines for His Church to carry out His will on earth until the day Jesus Christ returns. When we do not follow His guidelines, we get the results we see today: a decaying morality, corrupt culture, ineffective churches, and families falling apart.
God ordained men to be leaders in His Church and in our families. But over the past 50-plus years, many men have abdicated their position of leadership for a variety of reasons. Most studies show that professing Christians divorce at a rate similar to unbelievers. And the disintegration of the family is creating problems for the church and our society.
How do we stand up once again and become godly men, following hard after Christ and embracing the privilege and responsibility God has given us as leaders? We’re joined this morning by Pastor Gary Gilley who just taught on this very subject at a recent Christian Men’s Conference.
You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:1-2
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. Ephesians 5:22-27

Biblical Illiteracy: It’s Tragedy and Remedy – Pastor Gary Gilley
“Biblical illiteracy is well recognized today. There are many reasons for why not only the general population but also the evangelical church has little understanding and knowledge of Scripture, and I have tried to identify some of these in the body of this article. With all of the attacks on the trustworthiness of Scripture, coupled with general lack of Biblical knowledge and apathy toward what it proclaims, it would be easy to despair for the future of the Scriptures. But God’s Word always accomplishes that which it is sent forth by the Lord to accomplish (Isa 55:1), which is to teach, reprove, correct and train His people in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16). We have the promise of Jesus that His Word will never pass away (Matt 24:35). So rather than despair we should make every effort to pass along the Lord’s truth to the next generation (Deut 6:4-9; Psalm 145:4). At this point we need to consider some means to do so. What can we personally, and corporately as the church, do to address the issue of biblical illiteracy?” Pastor Gary Gilley
