Tom Doyle

Tom graduated from Biola College in 1979 and Dallas Theological Seminary in 1983, and is a licensed guide for the State of Israel with over 70 trips. After pastoring churches in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico for 20 years, he became the Middle East director for e3 Partners/I Am Second. His wife of 37 years, JoAnn, serves with him at e3 as the director of Not Forgotten, a ministry to women of the Middle East. They have six children and four grandchildren and are praying for about 20 more! Tom has written 8 books including the best-selling: "Dreams and Visions-Is Jesus Awakening the Muslim World?" And, "Killing Christians-Living the Faith Where it is Not Safe to Believe." His latest book "Standing in the Fire-Courageous Christians Living in Frightening Times" gives fresh, and dramatic stories of Islamic Terrorists, Secret Police, and other former Muslims who are now living all-out for Christ.

Though you may not hear this in the news, Christians continue to be the most persecuted group around the world according to recent studies. Nearly 600 million believers were prevented from practicing their faith openly in 2016.  Many are imprisoned or killed for their profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Are you and I prepared for increased discrimination and persecution here?

Today we are joined by Pastor Tom Doyle, who has spent 15 years as a Christian Missionary, and is VP and Middle East Director for e3 Partners based in Dallas, Texas.  Tom has authored four books including his latest, Standing in the Fire: Courageous Christians Living in Frightening Times.  Tom joins us to discuss how the gospel is being spread in the most dangerous places in the world.

Not Even ISIS Can Scare Them Off

Followers of Christ need to relearn what it means to stand courageously for their faith rather than merely survive in a climate of fear. Instead of motivating believers to action, today’s headlines appear to be paralyzing them.

Finding yourself fearful about the future? The believers in Standing in the Fire aren’t and they live in places like Syria and Iraq. What can we learn from them?

Standing in the Fire demonstrates the power of God to transform believers to stand strong for Christ and not run away in the face of overwhelming danger. These spiritual heroes of our faith living in the Middle East fear God more than terrorist groups like The Islamic State.

SCRIPTURES

If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:15-17

When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:34-38

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:7-8
