Living-Oasis

Elijah Abraham

Living Oasis Ministries

Elijah offers a unique perspective on the nature of Islam. He was born and raised as a Muslim in Iraq, but converted to Christianity and started Living Oasis Ministries, an organization devoted to teaching American churches about Islam and the best means for reaching out to Muslims with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Living Oasis Ministries is called to equip the saints in the U.S. and around the world to reach Muslims for Christ, to proclaim the Word of God to those who do not know Him through preaching and teaching the Word of God, and to help the global Church challenge Islam with the gospel through apologetics.

We take so much for granted where our faith and freedoms are concerned. Too many Christians in America seem to have lost the desire for spiritual things while it is evident so many people in other countries hunger for God’s Word and the truth. There are striking similarities between the lukewarm Laodicean church in the book of Revelation and the comfortable, complacent church in  the United States.

We receive another first-hand account of the state of the church today with our guest, teacher and missionary, Elijah Abraham, who just returned from India where he taught and helped equip pastors there.

DISCUSSION POINTS

  • Elijah returned from India less than a week ago. The trip’s purpose was to equip Indian pastors, lay leaders, and laymen in biblical theology and apologetics in Muslim (and Hindu) evangelism.
  • Most of the pastors in many third world countries are not trained in biblical doctrines and theology. It is necessary to teach basic systematic theology in a way they can understand, so Elijah has to spend time helping them understand from Scripture the security of the believer in Christ.
  • Most of the verses the pastors and leaders in India used were interpreted out of context. They are desperate for biblical teaching. They have been learning false doctrine for a long time and they are often shocked to learn what the Bible actually says.
  • They were such a blessing because they were focused and glued to the Word of God as they learned new truths. The kingdom of God and His work is accelerating in spite of  many challenges the Church faces.

SCRIPTURES

Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment… Hebrews 6:1-2

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written,

For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;
We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31-38

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nationa people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9
