Elijah Abraham: Biblical Perspective on Faith, Suffering, Trials

People need hope, and believers in Christ must be ready to give an answer to anyone who might ask about our faith in times of trials. In this season of apprehension during the coronavirus threat, some will be tested more than others. But none of us have to look very hard or long to find an opportunity to share the gospel.

Contrary to proponents of word-faith, prosperity doctrines, Christianity has nothing to do with our worldly comfort, success, or wealth. Ask a persecuted brother or sister in Christ in another country how comfortable they are. Compare their tested faith with those who merely profess to believe.

Church attendance is declining in the U.S. but Christianity continues growing in nations where there is persecution. How might God use the current season to purify the church?

The Dangers and Challenges in Sharing the Gospel

Sharing the gospel in foreign lands has always been difficult, but these days there are challenges that are making the task increasingly difficult and dangerous.  Radical Islam has been emboldened by ruthless leaders and a media willfully silent on its evil actions. Even within missionary circles there seems to be confusion on how best to share the gospel, making the task all the more difficult.

Elijah Abraham of Living Oasis Ministries regularly travels around the world sharing the gospel and teaching church leaders to equip their church members in sound doctrine for the work of evangelism and discipleship.  He joins Mike and David to discuss the increasingly difficult challenges of missionary work, and how some mission ministries are making the task even more difficult by preaching a watered-down or even false gospel.

An honest evaluation and pursuit of the truth is absolutely necessary in the Christian life. But in America (and the agenda-driven media in particular), the roots of deception go deep. We Were Created to Work and Worship!

It’s been well established that work and human interaction is vital to our overall health. Quarantines aren’t supposed to be for healthy people. Walmart, Costco, Target, and Home Depot are crowded. Does one of the most important liberties in the U.S. Constitution cover corporations and abortion businesses, but it doesn’t apply to churches and small businesses? I understand we want to obey governing authorities, but civil government does not have unlimited authority!

Abortion businesses have also stayed open – because in our “civilized” society, those in power determined it is essential to have access to murder your unwanted offspring. But the right to freely and peacefully assemble with those we love in the comfort of our churches is denied.
