Your Comments & Questions

Good morning Christians…it’s Friday! OK, apologies to our more seasoned listeners who know that is a knockoff of the late Paul Harvey’s Friday radio greeting. But we really do love Fridays here at Stand Up For the Truth because we turn the show’s topics over to you. Your questions and comments are the focus and here are some of the things we’ll be discussing today:

Advice on starting a home church
Reconciling salvation by grace and the fruit of our works in the teachings of the Bible
“Little gods” theology espoused by many word faith preachers
The New Age promoted at your local YMCA
What to do when your boss asks you to stop reading your Bible during lunch hour bc some are offended
The Mark of the Beast in the book of Revelation; voluntary or forced?
Why do so few liberals speak up against Islam?
And an angry letter from a (Christian?) listener who says to “judge ye not” but claims there is a special place in hell for Christian conservatives who call out the sin of homosexuality and lesbianism.

Behind the Curtain of the LGBTQ+ Movement

It is difficult to pick up a newspaper or open the internet without seeing another example of how media, schools and businesses are falling all over each other to comply with the demands of the LGBTQ in order to be “gender inclusive.”  And with the sudden exposure of sexual harassment charges against men in high positions, it is a safe bet that the LGBTQ will ride this wave to push its agenda of gender “fluidity” even further until we become so confused and dysfunctional as a society that not much will make sense anymore.

At the De Pere, Wisconsin City Council meeting last week, we shared our concerns about the non-discrimination (transgender rights) bill ultimately passed by the City, and it was sad to see young student after young student state their name and their “gender identity” such as “she/her”, or “him/his,”  “fluid,” etc.   The LGBTQ community, aided by their friends in the government and National Education Association, have so confused the minds of children that many of them are headed down the road of life believing the lies of man.  Yet the beat goes on and gender dysphoria grows in the minds and hearts of our young people – tomorrow’s leaders in our nation, and that includes our churches.

Why are today’s young people so quick to embrace moral relativism?  Joining us today is Alex Nitzberg who has studied the thought process of millennials and the radical LGBTQ movement in America.

Rolling Out the ‘T’ – and it’s not Tolerance

Most of us may think the transgender movement has been more of a recent development in American culture, but it goes way back to 1952 when the first alleged “sex change” was credited to a man named Christine Jorgensen. Remember, the “T” in LGBTQ has always been there, waiting in the wings as the groundwork was laid by same-sex marriage activists.

By 2015, the stage was set quite nicely for Bruce Jenner to catapult into a culture shaping icon by selling the public on his transition into Caitlyn. Transgender individuals had been quietly waiting for the right time culturally, politically, and socially, and the election of Barack Obama as president encouraged them, giving them the green light to deny God’s truth and come out in full force.

Sadly, we now live in a society that largely thinks moral absolutes and truth are so yesterday and unnecessary if they were ever relevant at all. But God never changes and He created the world including all human beings, either male or female, and this happens to be supported by biology, science, and most in the medical community.

Christian Mom Shares Her Story Re: Public School Transgender Agenda

If you think the transgender movement could never happen locally, think again. A concerned Christian parent joins us in studio today and shares some of her heartbreaking story. She has been aware of the transgender agenda in her son’s public school since he first opened up to her two years ago about what is really happening in our local schools. This mother is reaching out in the hopes other Christian parents will get involved and help raise awareness.

We’ll call her Jenny. She called us a few weeks back to share some of the details of what her son has had to deal with and she courageously agreed to come in and share her alarming story with Stand Up for the Truth listeners. We’ll hear from Jenny about how the school administration and superintendent responded to her concerns. We’ll also be discussing school privacy policies leaving parents with few rights, and teenagers on school field trips and camping outings that include co-ed sleeping arrangements due to students who identify as transgender. All this in addition to students using whatever bathroom they wanted to use in the school itself.

Also, just what is “normal”? Well, that depends on who is in charge, doesn’t it? And these days it is becoming more and more apparent that the ones in charge have one thing in common: A hatred for God and His Word. If you do not get in line with their definition of “normal” you will be labeled a “hate group”, subject to ridicule and even violence. One Christian organization is fighting back, suing the Southern Poverty Law Center over their designation of so-called “hate groups.”

Is ‘Transgenderism’ Here to Stay?

Facebook now recognizes 71 different genders options that members can self-identify with. The Federal Government has expanded its list to more than 50. And, according to some, transgenderism has almost become a badge of pride and honor among youth desperately seeking approval from their peers.

We know God created human beings male or female, and in His image. But we also know that the Word of God has increasingly been marginalized and dismissed as antiquated in our society.

This morning we look at the increased pressure to expand “gender” and the growing punishment of those who will not go along with the agenda. Matt Walsh joins us for an interesting, thought-provoking discussion.

No More Safe Haven

A very simple observation: As foretold in the Bible the world is growing more and more evil. War in the Middle East could break out at any time as Iran and Turkey vow to destroy Israel; evil regimes possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons that could devastate humanity; governments grow in power, controlling what we do, say and even think more and more each day.

Humanity collectively thumbs its nose at God. Public education and media pollute the minds of our children, indoctrinating them into a world view that opposes God and His Word.

Historically Christians have two “safe havens” where we could retreat from the insanity and growing evil of this world: Our churches and homes. Well sadly a growing number of churches are selling out to the world so as not to offend it; and now even the privacy of our homes and our very minds are under attack by the dangerous growth of highly invasive technology.

Eric Barger has been extensively researching how technology is being set up to manipulate and one day control us. This morning he joins us to discuss his new series “Home Invasion”.

The Danger of Ignoring the Old Testament

Remember “Cliff’s Notes”? They were short summaries of books that would perhaps give a student enough information to pass an exam on the book, but not enough to understand the depth and importance of the written work. Many of us who were students before the invention of the internet probably relied on Cliff’s Notes more than we should have.

Well, are we as Christians approaching God’s Word with a “Cliff’s Notes” attitude? We understand enough to think we are saved, but we fail to grasp the eternal truth and principles of what God has given us in His Word, often at our own peril. Bible studies tend to concentrate on the New Testament, ignoring the rich history and timeless principles God gave us going back to Genesis.

Pastor Mike Abendroth joins us this morning to discuss one of the most fascinating accounts of the Bible in 1 Kings Chapter 18. The unique list of characters in this account include the Prophet Elijah; Ahab, one of the worst kings of Israel; Jezebel his scheming, idolatrous wife; and the false prophets of the false god Baal. What lessons can we learn and apply from this biblical account to our world today?

Reviving an Increasingly Sleepy Church

As we see the wickedness and evil of this world increase at an alarming rate, the beauty of the bride of Jesus Christ, His Church, should be shining all the more radiantly. But while several churches remain faithful to God and refuse to compromise on His Word, a growing number seek compromise with the world for a variety of reasons. Perhaps fear, money or popularity are ruling the hearts of many church leaders instead of a passion for God and His Word.

But there is another culprit in this problem: A growing number of professing Christians prefer a message from the church that validates the desire of their flesh instead of challenging us to walk in holiness by the power of God’s Word and Spirit. And if the pastor dares teach a message about sin, confession and repentance—well they will just pick up and find a more accepting church where they can feel good about themselves.

Today we take an honest look at why the Christian Church in America is failing to shine brightly and point people to their only hope–the gospel of Jesus Christ–at a time when people feel more hopeless than ever. Pastor Jeff Solwold of Calvary Chapel Church in Madison, Wisconsin joins us for a frank discussion of the crisis we face and the only lasting solution: God and His complete Word.

The Rumblings of a Major Earthquake

Catastrophic earthquakes are often preceded by minor tremors as the earth beneath us begins to prepare for a major shaking. To ignore these tremors is to court disaster as we are unprepared for what is about to happen.

The Bible tells us that in the final days this world will go through cataclysmic change never seen before on both a physical and spiritual level. And many biblical scholars believe we are now witnessing these minor tremors warning us that everything around us is about to change in a very profound and eternal way.

One of these biblical scholars is Pastor Carl Gallups, author of several best-selling books that warn us of what the Bible prophesies in these final days. Are we witnessing the beginning of the end of this world and the soon return of Jesus Christ to judge mankind and establish His everlasting Kingdom?

Meaningful Christian Living & Evangelism

Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life” was a best seller that got many Christians searching for God’s “purpose” for their lives. Our guest this morning says searching for our “purpose” is a wild goose chase because once you think you’ve found it the world will change its focus and you’ll end up like those dogs we see in videos chasing their tails while getting nowhere fast and becoming dizzy and frustrated. He says rather Christians should focus on the meaning of our lives–something by the way clearly defined in God’s Word.

Pastor Randy White joins us this morning to discuss the difference between purpose and meaning, along with the importance of using Biblical Exposition in evangelism.

We’ll also discuss an intriguing study about how “Generation Z” is the least Christian generation in our nation’s history–and why one Christian researcher thinks that is actually a good thing.
