The Dangers of Masculinity

The American Psychological Association recently released a study calling out what it perceives as the dangers of traditional masculinity warning that it leads men to hating women and LGBTQ people. As men are “marketed” to by corporate America we see confusing messages on what it means to be a man these days.

Are we to be the strong, silent, rugged, macho guy? Or the sensitive, nurturing, submissive guy who sits back quietly and just accepts things the way they are?

If we listen to the world we will be continually confused about what it means to be a man. But not surprisingly God’s Word has a lot to say about what real men are.

This morning, Mike discusses this issue with Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute. What does it mean to be a man of God in today’s world?

We also look at an interesting perspective from a Christian musician who says that youth these days are being conditioned to worship their own self-image, and since the world is sending wrong messages to our youth about what their image should look like it is leading to dire consequences for an entire generation.

When Adults Eat Baby Food

How would you feel if friends invited you to their home for dinner and when you sat down to eat they served jars of Gerber’s baby food? Would you feel awkward, embarrassed or maybe even offended? But too many churches today are practically doing this with God’s Word! Let’s look at this from God’s perspective as written in the Book of Hebrews: God has given us great principles and depths of wisdom in His Word and believers are instructed to move on to maturity in Christ, so how might He feel when instead of getting to the solid “meat” of His Word we keep drinking milk or eating baby food?

Pastor Mike Abendroth of No Compromise Radio joins us this morning to look at some challenging and controversial verses in Hebrews 5 and 6. In our final segment this morning we look at a heart-breaking story of a six year old boy trapped in gender confusion because his mother insists he is actually a girl and dresses him that way, but when he visits his father he wants to dress like and be called a boy.

The Dangers of Emotion and Feelings Ruling Our Thought Process

When our emotions and feelings rule our minds and hearts we could be headed into dangerous waters. Logic, knowledge and common sense are put on the back-burner, and we risk thoughts and behaviors that can be very damaging to us and others. Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute joins us this morning to discuss how we take our thoughts captive in Jesus Christ so we can avoid mistakes we might make when emotions and feelings rule our thought process and decision making.

Are we Medicating Ourselves into an Intellectual Coma?

Watch television for any length of time and you are sure to see ads for new medications promising to make your life better. And while many of these drugs have dangerous side effects, the Pharmaceutical Industry continues to make billions of dollars peddling the latest “cure” for the latest problems of life. Anti-depression medications have saturated the market and record numbers of American children are now being medicated for ADHD. Today, Mike and David discuss the dangers of over-medication and the long term effects on mental health.

On a related subject we look at two interesting, yet very sad articles that are becoming all too common in these days. First, the number of young girls struggling with “gender identity” is skyrocketing; and second, a professor in Sweden is under attack for stating something so obvious that only a fool would argue that he is wrong. Is there a connection between over medication and the intellectual insanity permeating every aspect of society?

Pastors: Stop Imitating and Embracing the World

Today Mike and David discuss a provocative and compelling article by Shane Idleman that challenges pastors to stop imitating the world and return to the fundamentals of being a pastor: Teaching the complete Word of God, challenging the flock assigned to them to grow in holiness, and to quit worrying about offending members of their church. Idelman makes an interesting observation in his article: that at a time when “unity” is the buzz word in many churches perhaps it is time for a little separation to divide true born-again believers from the goats.

In our first segment, Mike and David talk with a Messianic Jew who has committed his life to reaching Jews with the truth and gospel of Jesus Christ. We will discuss why most Jews reject Jesus as messiah and how we can share the truth of the gospel with them.

The Two-Edged Sword of Psychology

The field of Psychology has been booming for many decades as people try sorting out problems and understanding how to cope, all in an effort to make sense this life full of ups and downs. At times, we all need to talk to someone to get some wise advice, but some within the field itself argue that modern Psychology does far more damage than good, and it may even be the cause of many of the problems we face these days.

One of these professionals is Dr. John Rosemond, whose credentials as a licensed Psychologist are among the best—yet John spends most of his time warning people about the dangers of Psychology. We talk with him today.

Then, in the second half of today’s podcast, we discuss a disappointing and heartbreaking article from 2008 about former Christian music artists, Michael and Lisa Gungor, and how their faith in God apparently crumbled. Where are they now? What caused Michael, and eventually Lisa, to deny the truth of the full gospel? What does ‘living the way of Jesus’ mean when you don’t believe all of what He taught?

If our faith is not built on a solid foundation of Scripture, on the deity of Jesus and the inerrant Word of the only living God, we are headed for a fall.

“We were traveling the world and singing songs about God, and he didn’t believe any of it.” -Lisa Gungor

Strong Spiritual and Mental Health

The world offers lots of so-called solutions that it claims will maintain good spiritual and emotional health. From drugs to Psychotherapy to Humanist Psychology, the world has no shortage of suggested answers to the problems of life that affect us all. In a world where respectful dialogue is being replaced with impatience, anger, self-righteousness, and even hate, it is vital that Christians not get caught up in all the uproar.

We ought not look to the ways of this world for answers. Instead we look to the Word of God and its timeless wisdom. That being said, many of us get caught up with disagreements or debates on social media which add to our actual concerns and priorities. We discuss these challenges today.

Pastor Randy White joins us this morning to offer solid, biblical advice to maintaining our spiritual and emotional health in a busy, distracting world sliding more and more into confusion and evil.

Destroying a Generation Through Tolerance

As we become a post-Christian nation the natural effect is that absolute truth becomes a thing of the past, replaced by “individual morality”. As we have systematically ushered God and His Word out of government and public education, we are seeing a generation of youth deceived and manipulated because they have been taught that God is a myth and it is up to them to make the world a better place.

Our youth have been led to believe they are being empowered to lead this world when in reality they are being conditioned for slavery to serve the elite of the new world order who consciously or not are serving the father of lies, Satan himself.

In our final segments we will look at how government and media are polluting the minds of our children through harmful legislation and television series such as “13 Reasons Why” which documents suicide among teens and has reportedly led to more suicides by youth who watch the series.

But first, where did we start to lose our children and what can we do to fight and reverse the influence of the radical left that has its fingers everywhere including education, government, media and increasingly even mental health care? Dr. John Rosemond joins us to discuss the dilemma and what we can do about it as parents.

Teaching Our Children to be Moral and Responsible

Teaching our children to be moral people and take personal responsibility for their beliefs and actions used to be a foundation of education in our nation. But since the 1960s we have practically abandoned what the Bible teaches us about discipline in the raising and educating of our children. Americans turned the responsibility over to the federal government, and we wonder why our children lack common sense, respect, and personal responsibility for their actions.

Our guest this morning, John Rosemond, tried doing things the world’s way. He is a licensed Psychologist who now speaks about the dangers of Psychology, and how we are raising our children to be self-worshipers and in essence, raising them with an “emphasized esteem for the almighty self.”

An Unclear Battle Cry from Church Leadership

Make no mistake: as Christians we are at war with this world. No, we do not use the world’s weapons or tactics, but Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10 that we have divine (spiritual) weapons able to to destroy arguments and lofty opinions of this world that are opposed to God and truth.

But many are wondering why a growing number of church leaders are not calling and equipping believers to fight this crucial spiritual battle for the eternal souls of our friends and neighbors. Where are the leaders rallying, challenging, and equipping Christians for this battle? We seem intent on looking more and more like the world we are supposed to win to Christ.

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins us to talk about the crucial need for church and family leadership in these days of growing confusion and evil.

American Christianity’s Slide Into Apostasy

This morning, Crash Connell interviews Mike about his latest powerful and provocative book challenging the direction of a growing number of churches in our nation. Mike discusses the demarcation forming between Biblical Christian Churches and “American Christianity” churches and how a growing number of churches and denominations are transforming churches toward secular culture, leading many into a false sense of eternal security.

You can pre-order Mike’s new book at biblicalanswerguy.com or at Amazon. It is a powerful, provocative book that will lead you to an honest self-assessment of your life as a professing believer and discover if the church you belong to is conforming to the world or the Word of God.

Deeper Faith, Honest Questions, Sharing the Gospel

Two fantastic guests on the program means #doubletruththursday. Is that a thing? Anyway…

Today, Mike and David welcome first-time guest, evangelist, Willie Herath of Ratio Christi in southern California and we discuss apologetics, deeper questions in the faith, and how to effectively respond to nonbelievers. How important is it for us to be ready to respond when people have questions or have objections to Christianity. We often find out that they really did not know much about the evidence for the Christian faith and the Bible.

We also talk with radio host, Mike Zander, from Utah’s Key Radio where he reaches out to Mormons in Utah with the gospel. He’s in town today and in-studio with Mike LeMay and David Fiorazo.

Are We Turning Toward or Away From God?

Mike and David look at a challenging article by Shane Idelman admonishing the Church to start living and acting like the Church instead of caving to the pressure and beliefs of secular society. And — breaking news — in case you haven’t heard:

The church is not a building or a denomination… You and I as believers are the Church!

The sad reality is that Jesus warned that many who think they are saved and going to heaven are instead headed to eternal hell. Paul tells us to continually test ourselves to prove that we are truly in the faith and have not fooled ourselves. The committed follower of Jesus Christ is willing to do this on a continual basis; the professing Christian who has fooled themselves never thinks twice about it. They have been lulled into a false sense of eternal security by the father of lies and a professing “church” that is afraid to offend people by teaching about sin, repentance and the pursuit of holiness. Together today we will examine ourselves.

In our first segment, we talk Biblical apologetics with Aaron Marshall of Ratio Christi Ministries.

Time for the Church to Turn Back to God

The world is what it always will be: Full of people who love self and power and despise God and His Word. Christians are called to stand out as a peculiar people full of eternal hope in Jesus Christ and sharing that hope with lost people. But many fear that as the “church” has sought compromise and common ground with the world that she has lost her moral standing and actually is contributing to the growing evil in society instead of opposing it and offering a solution.

It’s time to turn back to God with repentant hearts, asking His forgiveness for squandering our calling as light in this dark world. But do we as professing Christians, along with those who lead us, have the humility and strength to get on our knees and repent before God for our failures? Or will we continue to look more and more like this world Jesus said we were to hate and that would hate us?

Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now born-again believer, travels the world teaching the Word of God and equipping Christians in persecuted nations to share the gospel in the midst of danger. Elijah joins us to look at the tepid condition of American Christianity and what we must do before it’s too late.
