One World Religion and Liberal ‘Christian’ Contradictions

Today’s guest is Don Veinot of Midwest Christian Outreach. He recently attended the Parliament of World religions and gives us an update including a bit of history on this unbiblical movement. The meeting in Toronto, Canada included a United Nations workshop espousing the view that our salvation (and the salvation of the earth) depends on man – on our ability to shed exclusion and embrace our “common oneness.”

“This is an event which few Evengelicals pay attention to and will sneak up on them in the future, especially with their association to the UN.” Don Veinot

Questions and Comments from Listeners

Rather than list many of the questions and comments this week, let’s sum them up this way:

Comments and questions discussed on today’s podcast include an overwhelming response to the current Willow Creek Church/Bill Hybels scandal. Over all listeners who sent in questions or comments on the issue, over 90% are opposed to the Willow Creek Association and Global Leadership Summit, and many have addressed their concerns with their pastor.

Some have already left their churches if it continued to be a part of the Willow Creek Association, while others plan to ask their pastor about it to see how they justify partnering with an organization having so many unbiblical approaches and teachings. In our experience, when confronted about WC, most church leaders double down and refuse to acknowledge the problems.

A few listeners mentioned politics and the fiasco the Senate hearings have become regarding Supreme Court nominee, Bret Kavanaugh. Someone also brought up the difference between being a Christian and a conservative which are often used interchangeably.

Another Christian couple wants to know how to strike a healthy, biblical balance in the home as campaign season is already upon us. One spouse is more active politically wanting to be salt and light in culture and the other just wants to pray and vote as God leads without getting immersed or frustrated with the political process.

The others we had time for today mentioned the importance of believers knowing and appreciating the Old Testament. Also, a new believer who asked about the parable of the Sower in Mark chapter 4 and does it refute the “once saved always saved” doctrine.

Culture Collapse: the Dismantling of Truth & Church

When God is abandoned, truth ignored, and moral relativism accepted, any culture or society suffers as a result. In case you haven’t noticed, it’s happening in America. There are many factors involved including the falling away from traditional religion and the past silence of Christians, but what we are seeing today is open rebellion against God as Creator and Jesus Christ as Lord.

Rather than being part of the solution to our nation’s growing immorality, American Christianity has been part of the problem! Rather than being separate from the pattern of this world, too many professing believers have conformed to culture and then end up justifying their actions. Many have failed to build a solid foundation on Truth and the end result is compromise or deception. Is the true Gospel preached and understood in your local church or are essential elements missing in action? This is the heart of the issue.

Today we’re blessed to have Eric Barger of Take a Stand ministries back on the program. He is one of many authors that are included in a brand new book, Deceivers: Exposing Evil Seducers & Their Last Days Deception.

We cover much so much ground today as we catch up with Eric. From the Emergent Church and men (wolves) whose teachings we should avoid, to the sugary sweet preaching we often hear in many American churches today, we discuss the importance of context, doctrine, and the lack of depth in the evangelical church today. We touch on the unprecedented level of media bias and hatred toward President Trump, the LGBTQ agenda advancing full speed ahead, and how well-meaning Christians have practically embraced false teachings.

Liberal Theology & Thought: A Cancer Spreading in the Professing Church?

We all celebrated when we thought Communism and Marxism had finally died with the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1989. Little did we know Marxism hadn’t died; it had only morphed into something more subtle but every bit as dangerous: the new progressive liberalism. This is tolerance and inclusiveness on steroids!

By all accounts Marxism has infiltrated our colleges and media under the nomenclature of progressivism. It’s bad enough our nation’s younger people open their arms to this dangerous deception, but a growing number of professing Christians and churches have openly embraced and promoted this system that directly contradicts most of the Bible’s teachings. On today’s program, Mike LeMay and David Fiorazo explore this dangerous movement and how it is not only being openly embraced by millions of American citizens, but by too many ‘professing’ Christians in our nation.

The Great Deception of Media, Public Education and Fake Christianity

The Bible warns us that in the final days deception would become so rampant and powerful that many would abandon biblical Christianity for a world-wide system based on Humanism, elevating the thinking of mankind and dismissing God and His Word. Over the past 20-30 years the face of media, public education, and even the Church in America has changed so radically that it looks nothing like to used to. And the sad truth is in the here and now, Secular Humanism is winning the hearts and minds of many youth–youth that will one day lead this nation and our local churches.

Our guest today is Don Venoit of Midwest Christian Outreach as we take a sobering look at the decay of American culture and thought, along with the many problems facing the Christian Church in America.

The Supreme Ruler is Above the Supreme Court

Today Mike and Dave discuss the heated battle over the confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court with guest, Julaine Appling. There are debates and fireworks over the possibility of the ‘nuclear option’ – which Harry Reid and the Democrats put in place – being used as a last resort in the face of opposition and filibusters. it’s just politics and this too shall pass.

Just as important is how Gorsuch will decide on issues and vote on cases presented to the Supreme Court once he is confirmed. We can speculate, but no one knows for sure. What we do know is Washington D.C. is just as divided as our nation politically and spiritually.

A Church on the Defensive

Today we look at another Christian survey as well as some disturbing news on just how far many professing churches and leaders have fallen. Some are deceived while others are deceiving people into moral relativism, false teachings, and abandoning the truth of God for the faulty wisdom of man. Christian churches should be affecting secular culture. Instead secular culture seems to be infecting many churches.

Saul Alinsky Would Be Proud

We discuss the continuing meltdown of the Left, their reaction to Donald Trump’s election, his early policies, and Supreme Court Justice nominee, Neil Gorsuch. Also, last night, hate filled riots broke out at California Berkeley, making Saul Alinsky, Barack Obama, Jim Wallis, the liberal media, and Hillary Clinton (to name a few) proud. Plus, Mike’s commentary.

Nancy Pelosi: We’re Doing God’s Work

There are many professing Christians who selectively reference the Bible to justify their personal beliefs and worldview; yet they completely ignore the Bible when it contradicts other personal beliefs. This is one form of hypocrisy creeping into the professing church that needs to be addressed.

Is the Earth Young, Old, or Something in Between?

Mike and David visit with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project to discuss the controversy around aging televangelist Pat Robertson calling Christians who believe in a Young Earth “an embarrassment.”  They also discuss the growing controversy in a few circles that are now claiming perhaps the Earth is flat after all. Really.Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear suggested recently that Christians who support President Trump might be “winking at sin” to promote their political agenda.  As expected he is receiving some push back for his statement. What did he mean? And how about liberal Democrat Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand claiming that protecting babies in the womb (being pro-life) is not the Christian thing to do!

The Conflict of Freedom vs. Islam

Islam is a false religion of very strict laws and teachings.  Adulterers and homosexuals are punished severely and women are treated as second class citizens or at times, treated as property.  This directly contradicts the laws of our nation and is completely incompatible with the platform of the Democrat Party that celebrates homosexuality and transgenderism and touts radical feminism.  Yet the radical left embraces Islam at every turn, and if it reaches the point Sharia Law is imposed in America, even far left followers could be thrown in jail or possibly even killed for being “infidels.”Today, Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now disciple of Jesus Christ, joins Mike and David to discuss this as well as the “Islamization” of Europe and the pending Middle East Peace Plan that President Trump will be introducing next month.  Is peace with Islam really possible?

The Tragedy and Glory of Death

There is no greater challenge facing man then the reality of his own mortality.  Hebrews 9:27 tells us it is appointed for a man to die once and then be judged.  Death in the physical realm is inevitable; where a man’s souls goes after death is the real issue of eternal importance.

Born-again Christians, if we believe the promises of God, should not fear death…we should actually welcome it.  But we should also have a sense of urgency about death for those who have not placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch joins Mike and Crash this morning to put the inevitability of physical death into proper biblical perspective: encouraging us to enjoy the life God has given us, not fear our mortal deaths, and have a sense of urgency for unbelievers who still fear death.

Seeking Signs, Wonders and Miracles

In Matthew 12:38, the scribes and Pharisees asked Jesus for “another sign” not long after he had healed the sick and a demon-possessed man who was also blind. Jesus responded:”An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign but none will be given except the sign of the prophet Jonah”That “sign” was when Jesus would rise from the grave to prove His deity and God’s power over sin and death. Many Christians and churches today are continually seeking more signs and wonders.  Let’s be clear: some are sincere believers in Christ, but their continual need for additional signs and miracles testifies to the weakness of their faith in the completed work of Jesus on the cross.  We look at a critique from The Gospel Coalition regarding Bethel Church in Redding, California and its leaders Bill and and Beni Johnson, and we discuss the pitfalls of this charismatic movement. In our first segment we visit with author David Richardson to discuss content in his book Transparent – about how our deeply held assumptions can deceive us and hinder us in our walk with God.
