Praying for Our President

Praying for Our President

This morning we look at several controversies rocking the Christian world including The Pope changing The Lord’s Prayer, the controversy surrounding Pastor David Platt praying for President Trump when he showed up unexpectedly at his church, and the ongoing argument over whether Jesus would attend a Gay Pride Event.

In our first segment we visit with Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Council to discuss a Madison School’s blatant indoctrination of elementary school students into the transgender movement and a conservative pastor calling out Wisconsin Republican legislators for their cowardice and hypocrisy in not passing strong pro-life legislation when they controlled the legislative process.

Spiritual Disorientation in the Church?

Spiritual Disorientation in the Church?

It is quite enough that the Christian Church faces a world increasingly confusing and hostile toward God and His Word.  That is a significant enough battle for a church that is focused and standing on the Word of God.  But when the church becomes confused about what is right and wrong according to God this battle becomes all the more difficult. Mike and David look at some news stories that show rampant confusion infiltrating some churches including one liberal church adding a “Psychic” to its staff and another teaching that God’s gender is “neutral”, and a pastor at a Christian College commencement praying and asking God to come against fossil fuels and “straight white men”.

A Better Way to Educate and Equip Youth

A Better Way to Educate and Equip Youth

The accepted American formula for success includes graduating High School and then going off to College to establish a foundation for success as an adult.  The only problem is this:  it isn’t working!  Youth are graduating College often with useless degrees, indoctrinated into an anti-biblical worldview, strapped with massive debt and a feeling of hopelessness.

This morning Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute joins Mike and Crash Connell to discuss a practical alternative to preparing students for life—one that is based on the Word and practical teachings of God.

The Importance of Sound Biblical Doctrine

The Importance of Sound Biblical Doctrine

In what we call the Great Commission, Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and teach them everything He commanded. Doctrine (‘doctrina,’ Lat.) simply means “teaching.” In Acts chapter 2, the foundation of the early church was the teaching of those apostles. Without a solid foundation of accurate biblical doctrine, a church becomes nothing more than a social club.

But doctrine has almost become a bad word in a growing number of churches, as if doctrine is automatically “divisive” and “unloving.”  In reality, biblical doctrine is the foundation for Christian unity and love. Pastor Randy White joins Mike and David to discuss the importance of teaching sound biblical doctrine.

Biblical Answers to Your Comments and Questions

Biblical Answers to Your Comments and Questions

It’s another Friday! That means more listener questions and comments – our favorite program of the week. Here are a handful of topics we discuss today:

Bethel Church – some great worship but some flawed teaching as well?
Two extremes in Christian churches: legalistic with little grace or abusing grace and not confronting sin
My wife wants nothing to do with God or church, but said she was a Christian when we got married four years ago. What should I do on Sundays?
Home churches can be good or bad depending on the teaching and leadership
The danger of focusing on “common ground” when it comes to Christianity and false religions
I have a love/hate relationship with your show!
We are in the world but not of the world, and need proper perspective when it comes to sharing the gospel and battling for truth in culture

Thanks for the right spiritual balance you have on Stand Up

Big Challenges Facing Christianity in America

Big Challenges Facing Christianity in America

John Loeffler of Steel on Steel Radio has witnessed and addressed the attacks on both our churches and our nation by radical ideologies and movements, and joins Mike and David to discuss the many challenges our nation and Christian Churches face today.

We start with a promise from Jesus: the gates of hell will not prevail against His true church.  But there has been compromise and complacency as well as enormous challenges facing the professing church in America. We’re seeing a decline in many denominations and church attendance, the growing influence of secular humanism within many churches, and the increasing threat of discrimination and eventual persecution.

Paul says in Romans 8:37 that we are more than conquerors through Jesus, but we seem to be raising the white flag of spiritual and cultural surrender.  Could that be because we are conforming to this world and changing the eternal message of the gospel to fit our human understanding and prejudices?

Comments and Questions

Every Friday, Mike responds to your questions and comments. Here are some of this week’s topics: Abortion, Pro-life laws, Reformation movement, 4 Questions to ask unbelievers or even “professing” Christians: Who is God? Who is man (before and after salvation)? How can sinful man be reconciled to God? What is the proof you are reconciled to Him? Freemasonry, Contemplative prayer Will we know our friends and family in heaven? Bill Johnson, Bethel worship, signs and wonders

Is the Earth Young, Old, or Something in Between?

Is the Earth Young, Old, or Something in Between?

Mike and David visit with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project to discuss the controversy around aging televangelist Pat Robertson calling Christians who believe in a Young Earth “an embarrassment.”  They also discuss the growing controversy in a few circles that are now claiming perhaps the Earth is flat after all. Really.Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear suggested recently that Christians who support President Trump might be “winking at sin” to promote their political agenda.  As expected he is receiving some push back for his statement. What did he mean? And how about liberal Democrat Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand claiming that protecting babies in the womb (being pro-life) is not the Christian thing to do!

The Conflict of Freedom vs. Islam

The Conflict of Freedom vs. Islam

Islam is a false religion of very strict laws and teachings.  Adulterers and homosexuals are punished severely and women are treated as second class citizens or at times, treated as property.  This directly contradicts the laws of our nation and is completely incompatible with the platform of the Democrat Party that celebrates homosexuality and transgenderism and touts radical feminism.  Yet the radical left embraces Islam at every turn, and if it reaches the point Sharia Law is imposed in America, even far left followers could be thrown in jail or possibly even killed for being “infidels.”Today, Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now disciple of Jesus Christ, joins Mike and David to discuss this as well as the “Islamization” of Europe and the pending Middle East Peace Plan that President Trump will be introducing next month.  Is peace with Islam really possible?

The Tragedy and Glory of Death

The Tragedy and Glory of Death

There is no greater challenge facing man then the reality of his own mortality.  Hebrews 9:27 tells us it is appointed for a man to die once and then be judged.  Death in the physical realm is inevitable; where a man’s souls goes after death is the real issue of eternal importance.

Born-again Christians, if we believe the promises of God, should not fear death…we should actually welcome it.  But we should also have a sense of urgency about death for those who have not placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch joins Mike and Crash this morning to put the inevitability of physical death into proper biblical perspective: encouraging us to enjoy the life God has given us, not fear our mortal deaths, and have a sense of urgency for unbelievers who still fear death.

Seeking Signs, Wonders and Miracles

Seeking Signs, Wonders and Miracles

In Matthew 12:38, the scribes and Pharisees asked Jesus for “another sign” not long after he had healed the sick and a demon-possessed man who was also blind. Jesus responded:”An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign but none will be given except the sign of the prophet Jonah”That “sign” was when Jesus would rise from the grave to prove His deity and God’s power over sin and death. Many Christians and churches today are continually seeking more signs and wonders.  Let’s be clear: some are sincere believers in Christ, but their continual need for additional signs and miracles testifies to the weakness of their faith in the completed work of Jesus on the cross.  We look at a critique from The Gospel Coalition regarding Bethel Church in Redding, California and its leaders Bill and and Beni Johnson, and we discuss the pitfalls of this charismatic movement. In our first segment we visit with author David Richardson to discuss content in his book Transparent – about how our deeply held assumptions can deceive us and hinder us in our walk with God.
