A Liberal Conundrum

Today we point to a story that exposes the hypocrisy of many liberals these days. What do the people that preach “tolerance” do when they run up against a religion that really does oppress anyone that disagrees with its doctrines? This morning we look at a mess Starbucks Coffee faces in Indonesia and Malaysia, heavily Muslim nations.

In our first half hour we are joined by Pastor Mike Abendroth of No Compromise Radio. Some of the topics we will address include the teaching of the eternal security for the true believer, something called the “sin of presumption,” and the challenges of raising Christian youth in the Church.

The Persecution of Jack Phillips

This fall the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the case of Colorado baker Jack Phillips who has been fined, attacked, and harassed because as a Christian, he chose to follow his religious conscience and not bake a cake for a gay couple’s wedding. He is now receiving death threats. This will be a landmark decision with huge implications for freedom of speech and religious expression.

We cannot count on the secular news media to accurately give the details and ramifications of this crucial case. Media has sold out to the progressive agenda and LGBTQ movement and will probably spin things to make Jack Phillips look like some sort of hateful monster.

So today we take a look at the history and ramifications of the pending decision by the Supreme Court. If Phillips loses, how will the landscape change for Christian business owners and ministries? And will a defeat lead to churches being intimidated in a variety of ways?

Religious Freedom Hanging in the Balance

When the U.S. Supreme Court legalized homosexual marriage in 2015, some of us predicted that the real issue was not same-sex “marriage,” but rather a full out war on silencing Christians and forcing people to accept and celebrate an anti-biblical agenda. Well, a lot of people dismissed our prediction as “fear mongering.” But fast forward just two years later and we are seeing a persistent attack on the speech and freedoms of Christians, and a legal and propaganda campaign to marginalize Christian thought, beliefs, and conscience.

Today we cover some high-interest news stories on just how critical things are getting. In the first segment, we check in with Doug Wakefield of Best Minds, Inc. to see how economically we are walking into bondage by ignoring the signs of an imminent world-wide financial meltdow

Assaults on Religious Liberty and Free Speech

Europe and the Middle East have been ravaged by Islamic terrorism with attacks coming on almost a daily basis. All the while citizens exclaim, “What can the government do about it?” In Europe, under pressure from governments, social media organizations like Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Twitter are sponsoring a forum to “purge terrorists from their pages, videos and posts.” On the surface this might seem like a viable plan, but perhaps first we should learn what their definition of “terrorist” is, because some consider so-called hate speech to be terrorism. Those same people consider the teachings of God’s Word as hate speech.

Joining us this morning to discuss the attack on religious liberty and freedom of speech is Brad Dacus of Pacific Justice Institute, an organization dedicated to protecting religious liberties for Christians.

Dangerous Rhetoric… Dangerous Events

The tragic shooting this week in Virginia of Republican Congressmen and staffers is a sad effect of the careless, hateful rhetoric that spews out of Washington politicians and our divided nation as a whole over the past two decades. Mentally unstable people get caught up in the media sensationalism and decide that violence is the logical answer. Is our nation on the brink of a social meltdown and political anarchy fueled by careless politicians and a reckless media? I think you know the answer. We will cover this story and others in our Media watch segment this morning. We also answer your questions from this week’s shows.

Religious Freedom Slipping Away

Today we cover two court cases that could have permanent damaging effects on religious freedom for Christians in America. They are blatant attempts to muzzle Christians by restricting how they can earn a living and provide for their families. If Progressives are victorious in these court cases, religious freedom as we have known it will become a thing of the past.

We’re also joined by Tina Maria Griffin of Counter Culture Mom to discuss the growing influence of Hollywood, television and video games on our children and how we protect them.

The Attack on Religious Liberty

The Constitution of the United States guarantees every citizen the right to worship as they believe and to freely express their religious views privately as well as publicly. But Jesus warned us that the day would come when true Christian believers would be marginalized, hated and even persecuted for their faith in Him. Historically we have believed “that could never happen in America,” but we are seeing the early signs that indeed it is starting to happen.

Are we approaching the day when the right of true, practicing Christians to share their faith and worship publicly in our nation will become a distant memory? What can we do to assure our constitutional rights to privately and publicly express and share our Christian convictions? Or should we accept what many feel is inevitable: that Christian liberties will be stripped in favor of political correctness and secular humanism?

Brad Dacus of The Pacific Justice Institute joins us to discuss trends and recent legal battles over the religious freedom of Christians.

National Security, Religious Freedom, and Biased Media

With terrorism on the rise, many Americans are naturally concerned with safety, wanting the federal government to inform us about hateful ideologies and protect us from terrorist organizations like ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood. But safety usually comes with a potentially severe price: Freedom. It is a difficult balance to maintain maximum safety without government intrusion into privacy, freedom of speech, or other liberties our Constitution guarantees us as citizens.

Also, there is a potentially dangerous trend within our National Security Agencies to become political as we are witnessing holdover members of the Obama Administration leaking damaging innuendo or facts about the Trump Administration to the press. Few would argue the media doesn’t want to undermine the President’s agenda and see him fail.

Ryan Mauro is a national security expert withe The Clarion Project and a Shillman Fellow. He joins us to discuss President Trump’s trip to the Middle East this weekend, as well as the growth of terrorism and what can be legally done about it.

Next, David Fiorazo presents another Media Watch segment concerning what he calls hypocritical, irresponsible, malignant media bias, and we discuss the increasing discrimination against Christians and conservatives in America.

Bright Light in the Midst of Great Darkness

Though you may not hear this in the news, Christians continue to be the most persecuted group around the world according to recent studies. Nearly 600 million believers were prevented from practicing their faith openly in 2016. Many are imprisoned or killed for their profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Are you and I prepared for increased discrimination and persecution here?

Today we are joined by Pastor Tom Doyle, who has spent 15 years as a Christian Missionary, and is VP and Middle East Director for e3 Partners based in Dallas, Texas. Tom has authored four books including his latest, Standing in the Fire: Courageous Christians Living in Frightening Times. Tom joins us to discuss how the gospel is being spread in the most dangerous places in the world.

Discrimination… to Persecution… to Martyrdom

First, a reality check. As Christians living in America, with the exception of a little discrimination, we are quite comfortable and surely not undergoing persecution (at least as many in the world are experiencing). What we see is increasing ridicule and hostility toward the gospel and true believers. But this mockery and discrimination has an historic pattern of leading to persecution and even martyrdom. We saw it in the early formation of The Soviet Empire and Communist China, where hundreds of thousands of Christians were murdered in the name of Communism. Biblical Christianity stands in direct contradiction to socialism, (the modern definition of) liberalism, Communism and totalitarian rule.

William Murray of the Religious Freedom Coalition joins us today as we look at several news stories of persecution of Christians around the world. We also look at stories here in the U.S. where ridicule and growing discrimination of Christians might well be leading our beloved nation to one day join the list of nations where Christians risk their lives for proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Are We Prepared for Real Persecution in America?

Our Christian brothers and sisters around the world are facing increased persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ. But we here in America face limited discrimination and a soft persecution at worst. Are we spiritually prepared for the coming days when we are truly hated for the name sake of Jesus Christ? Is our professed Christian walk even worthy of hatred and persecution of the world? Or does our life blend in too closely with the lives of unbelievers? Don Veinot joins the program today.

This morning we look at recent studies showing increased hatred of Jesus Christ and His followers, and how Christians in America are being influenced more and more by secular humanist thought.

Clever, Dangerous Deception

In my latest book The Death of Christian Thought, I discuss how it is not the blatant lies that are most dangerous, but rather the clever deceptions of Satan and false teachers that are our greatest threat. Deception masked as truth is subtle, but very dangerous, slowly leading many away from the truth of God’s Word.

This morning we begin a discussion on an article by Tim Challies titled “7 False Teachers in the Church Today” that equips us to discern between truth and clever deception.

We also check in with Brad Dacus of the Pacific Justice Institute to discuss the many court cases and threats involving our religious freedom in America, especially the transgender movement.

The Dangers of “Changing” Genders & Today’s Entertainment

With the insanity of the transgender movement and its growing acceptance by Americans and policy enforcement by the government, a prominent medical organization has weighed in to set the record straight. This morning we cover a report by The American College of Pediatricians that says assisting children in “changing their gender” is actually child abuse – and ultimately destructive to them.

We also look at a Wisconsin technology company that is implanting microchips into its employees. Is this a glance at end-times prophecy, all with the promise that there is nothing to worry about?

In our first segment today, we are blessed to have in-studio guest, Tina Marie of Counter Culture Mom and discuss how we can protect our children from the dangerous ideas of Hollywood, television, the publishing industry, and video games.

If Saul Alinsky Was Alive Today

Saul Alinsky, a radical liberal and agnostic, wrote the blueprint on how to introduce chaos through community organizing in hopes of overthrowing the government of the United States by undermining its foundational systems: government, public education, media, and the church. His book Rules For Radicals spells out how people should organize and force change through misinformation and intimidation. In his book he acknowledges the “first radical known to man: Lucifer.”

Today we explore two questions: First, what would Saul Alinsky think if he were alive today? And second, how could a man who admired Lucifer have such a strong influence – not only in our nation but also in too many American Christian Churches?

We’re joined this morning my John Loeffler, a fifty year veteran of broadcast journalism and born-again follower of Jesus Christ. John is in his 25th year of hosting Steel on Steel radio–a news talk program that looks at today’s events through the lens of the Bible.

Just How Low Can Humanity Sink?

In our final segment this morning we cover a tragic story of what can happen when people are taught that human life is an accident of the universe instead of life created by God in His image. A group of teenagers in Florida saw a man drowning, and instead of trying to help him they recorded the event on social media, mocking him as he splashed around. Now, two young daughters are without their father.

First up, we talk with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project and discuss his article, “A Simple Approach to Sharing Your Faith.” Have we made sharing the gospel something we dread instead of enjoy doing? What are some ways we can open up a discussion with anyone, offering them the hope of eternal life with God?

Discernment or Self-Destruction?

This morning on Stand Up For the Truth we read your comments and answer your questions from this week.  One central theme is discernment issues within Christianity.  Are we using proper biblical discernment or engaging in prideful witch hunts, looking to discredit others who we disagree with?  Also, several have chimed in regarding young people seeking “community” outside the confines of church. We discuss these and other topics of interest today.

First up, David covers our weekly Media watch segment, answering this question:  Why does secular media dedicate so much time to covering issues Americans say they don’t care about?

Controversial Issues in the Christian Church

Families and societies operate best when there are fixed standards of morality to guide our actions. In our nation, we were established upon the rule of law, supposedly giving us clear instruction what is acceptable or unacceptable behavior. As Christians we are guided by God’s Word which sets the ultimate standard for morality and acceptable behavior for us. But what happens when “normal” becomes subjective to personal feelings?

In the first segment today, we check in with Doug Wakefield of Best Minds, Inc. to keep an eye on world wide economic trends that point to globalism through a coming shake up in the world economy.
