When Harry Became Sally & Hollywood Hypocrisy

Today we touch on reviews of a new book by Ryan T. Anderson titled When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment, a comprehensive look at the transgender movement sweeping our nation.  Anderson’s book is being proclaimed a “comprehensive, compassionate look” at this phenomenon sweeping our nation and changing the landscape of public education, social media and the legal system.

In the first segment, we catch up with Tina Marie Griffin, Counter Culture Mom to discuss how parents can safeguard their children against unbiblical influences of movies, television and video games.  We touch on a new television show, “Living Biblically,” and ask if it’s an attempt by CBS to give Christianity a fair shake or is there a hidden agenda here?

Other topics include the lowest Oscar ratings in history, Jimmy Kimmel insults Mike Pence, and Hollywood hypocrisy on promoting violence.

More Division and Dysfunction Within the Church

Today we look at an important controversy within a Christian denomination. This is a legitimate controversy over an important doctrine: predestination. Does God predestine certain people for heaven or hell? Doesn’t man have a choice to confess, repent and submit to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior? Southern Baptists are grappling with this crucial question as New Reformed Calvinism makes an impact on many members of the denomination.

In our first segment, we check in with Tina Marie Griffin, the Counter Culture Mom to discuss dangers to our children in television, movies, music and video games. Topics today include virtual reality, the need for more Christian movies and video games, Facebook censorship, and a stern warning about one of the godless, offensive prime time TV shows. Also, were there satanic images in the background of the Super Bowl halftime show?

Sacrificing Our Privacy for Security & Convenience

The news swirling around Washington D.C. is that we are about to hear about the exposure of illegal activities within the Obama Administration where American citizens, including then presidential candidate Donald Trump, were spied upon in direct violation of federal law. All this against the background of accusations against President Trump that he colluded with Russians to steal the election from Hillary Clinton. Like an excellent magician, the Left is great at distracting people with one hand while the other hand does the dirty work behind the scenes.

In other news, we may be surrendering our privacy due to our fascination with technology such as new products Alexa and Amazon Echo. Are we virtually giving big corporations access to our homes, personal information, and even private conversations. Are we headed toward a “Big Brother” State as predicted in the classic book 1984? Eric Barger suggests Christians are becoming “enemies of the state.”

In our first segment, we check in with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project to discuss how feelings and opinions have increasingly become “truth” to many people, and the dangers of this trend.

Meaning in Christ or the American Dream?

Satan, the enemy of our souls, is a powerful adversary with many weapons. He is the father of lies and the master of evil with thousands of years of experience in how to tempt and distract people from God. We are told to both resist him, stand firm in Christ, and to reject his sinfully seductive arguments and ways.

One of the ways he tempts us is with worldly pursuits that sound good including the pursuit of – not holiness and godliness – but the American dream. There’s nothing wrong with working for a living, paying our bills and taking care of our family, but we often take it much further to coveting or even the pursuit of wealth.

The enemy is dangerous enough, we don’t need to make his job easier by becoming obsessed with the pleasures of this world and things that overwhelm us with activities and fruitless pursuits. Sadly, we may one day find ourselves more distant from God and unable to hear His voice through His Word.

Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch joins us to discuss ways we can turn away from the temptations and busyness of life and find rest in God.

Public Education Undermining Parents, and Other ‘New Year’ Challenges

It’s bad enough that public education teaches evolution as fact, ignoring God’s Word and the option to teach another view of creation. It’s also sad today’s children are encouraged to “explore their sexuality and gender” without talking with their parents; but now comes a story from West Bend, Wisconsin where Middle School students are being tested to see if they are “privileged,” seemingly concluding they should feel guilty if they come from a religious, white, heterosexual family with a stable environment.

We cover an article written by Todd Starnes exposing the apparent agenda to plant seeds of immorality and indoctrinate middle school children into the radical liberal agenda. This survey given to kids might surprise you. We also discuss an article by our own David Fiorazo sharing insight on eight major topics Christians should watch and discern as we go through 2018.

Protecting Children, Ministry Leaders, & Christian Business Owners

We face an enemy who is crafty, experienced, and evil; Satan is ‘the father of lies.’ Ever since his unsuccessful rebellion against God at the beginning of time he has honed his craft, finding innovative ways to attack the children of God in hopes of discrediting the gospel message.

Today, Christians face increasing discrimination and ridicule in our nation. Fueled by Hollywood, media, public education, and a progressive government, we are seeing the rights of religious expression and worship attacked on several fronts. Cities and states are passing laws forcing Christian churches and organizations to choose to either approve of and support immoral, unbiblical values or risk being shut down.

But the enemy we face is clever and devious and never puts all his eggs in one basket. He is also stirring up problems within Christian churches and ministries by attacking our compassion for others. Churches and ministries are committed to ministering to anyone seeking help or hope. But the enemy has sent “spies” into our camp attempting to undermine our work. We are seeing frivolous lawsuits aimed at discrediting and even shutting down faithful warriors for Christ in order to intimidate the church.

In our second segment, we share the sad story surrounding Ravi Zacharias, a respected Christian leader dedicated to sharing the gospel and loving others, who was falsely accused of sexual improprieties even though it appears he did everything he could to be above reproach.

In segment three, we touch on the opening arguments of the Supreme Court case involving Christian artist and bakery chop owner, Jack Phillips, who is simply asking not to be forced to take part in gay marriages.

In our first segment we check in with Tina Griffin of Counter Culture Mom to discuss how we protect our children against the horrible influences of movies and video games. We also discuss the increased sensitivity to sexual harassment in our nation and the downside of ‘guilty until proven innocent.’

The Dangers of Artificial Intelligence

AI, or “Artificial Intelligence” is making huge strides within the scientific community with many predicting that in the next decade or so it will present endless possibilities for the future of mankind. But many, including some on the inside of this pioneering work, are warning of extreme potential dangers as we trust AI with more and more of the duties God assigned to man.

We will also get to your comments about Christians participating in or celebrating Halloween. Is the chance to evangelize, or just give our children a night of fun, worth being a part of the festivities? Is Halloween redeemable? Our listeners have very strong opinions on this.

First segment, we check in with Don Veinot of Midwest Christian Outreach to discuss some of the ways we are being deceived by dialogue and discussions in society these days, and we also look at what Don calls “The worst sermon ever.”

Trying to Make Sense of the Unimaginable

The senseless shooting of hundreds and murder of 59 people in Las Vegas by a man with no apparent history of violence, criminal activity or religious or political affiliation has experts baffled, looking for answers to this horrible tragedy.

And, as was easily predictable, liberal politicians immediately jumped in to take advantage of this tragedy and push their agenda for more gun control laws. This twisted criminal obviously violated several gun restriction laws already in place, but something about the liberal mindset seems to say “Well, we need more laws and that should do it!”

As most liberals push gun control and most conservatives defend the Second Amendment, no leader in Washington seems interested in talking about the real cause: our nation, which originally pledged its allegiance to God’s Law and principles, has abandoned everything God teaches us about life and morality in His Word.

In the meantime, we have young children looking for answers and guidance as they grow up in a culture where violence is around every corner. They are bombarded by content on television, movies, music and in video games that glorify violence and sexuality; and thousands of babies are aborted every day while they are being told the gender they were given by God might have been “a mistake.”

Tina Griffin of Counter Culture Mom joins us to sort through the lies and discuss how to guide and protect our children from a culture bent on destroying their moral fabric and very soul.

The World Wonders About USA Protests

People see disrespect of the flag, one of the most loved symbols that identify us as a united people. Onlookers don’t understand why young, wealthy, elite pro football players and teams are protesting – but they most likely perceive it has something to do with Trump and the government.

They see a revolution brewing, and unlike most Americans, people in other countries know about revolutions. Many did not end well. So here we are watching to see what NFL owners and players will do next while a literal mad man with nukes in North Korea could literally send the world into unprecedented calamity and upheaval.

You don’t think the world interprets these public protests differently than how they are intended?

Last weekend, NFL football players over in London knelt during the National Anthem prior to a game at Wembley stadium. And if that wasn’t embarassing enough, those same American athletes then stood up for the playing of Britain’s anthem, God Save the Queen. You tell me, what message does this send to the world?

More importantly, I wonder how American war veterans feel about all this. And what about those still serving our country, fighting for our interests in other nations?

The British newspaper, The Guardian’s headline told us how they see it with the headline:

“NFL players kneel for anthem in unprecedented defiance of Trump.”

The world is watching and so are American children. Some still have no idea what the protest is all about. In a nation as divided politically, spiritually, and racially, I wish I could be more optimistic, but I do believe in God’s sovereignty in all things. Let’s pray that somehow this will lead more people to the only true source of peace, Jesus Christ.

The Nonsense of “Christians Shouldn’t Judge”

One of the most misleading statements infiltrating much of the Christian Church these days is the statement that “Christians shouldn’t judge.” This misrepresentation of God’s Word has been used to excuse sinful behavior and render us ineffective in living lives of holiness and sharing the gospel with the lost. In reality, the Bible teaches us that Christians should be discerning and use sound judgment in our decisions every day, from the choices we make to our interactions with believers and unbelievers. What we judge and how we judge is where the rubber meets the road.

Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute joins us this morning to look at what the bible teaches us about making judgment on our own actions and the actions of others, believers and unbelievers.

Your Questions & Comments

On today’s show we answer your questions and read your comments from this week. Some of the issues we discuss include:

Rob Bell’s tragic influence within Christianity; recent hurricanes and whether they are a sign of God’s judgment on our nation, Christian music – is it losing its affect and focus? Freedom of speech in light of National Anthem protests, the tough decision on when to leave a church.

David also has our weekly Media Watch segment where we dissect the hypocrisy and double standards of today’s media.

How Serious is the North Korea Threat?

Last weekend, North Korea successfully tested a hydrogen bomb.  Already possessing nukes and threatening to use them against the U.S., the fact they now have hydrogen bombs raises the stakes dramatically for two reasons:  First, hydrogen bombs are far more powerful than simple nuclear weapons, and second, a hydrogen bomb is much more plausible for what might be a worst nightmare for our nation.  Some suggest an electronic magnetic pulse bomb (EMP) could wipe out every computer and electronic capability of our nation for up to a full year. If that happens, government experts predict the casualty rate could be as high as 90% in our nation and it would practically eliminate America as a world power.

This morning we discuss the threat and ask how Christians should respond in the face of potential tragedy.

In our first segment today, we check in with Counter Culture Mom, Tina Marie Griffin, to discuss dangers in media for our children, practical alternatives for parents, and a big event coming up in a few weeks for women.

No More Safe Haven

A very simple observation: As foretold in the Bible the world is growing more and more evil. War in the Middle East could break out at any time as Iran and Turkey vow to destroy Israel; evil regimes possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons that could devastate humanity; governments grow in power, controlling what we do, say and even think more and more each day.

Humanity collectively thumbs its nose at God. Public education and media pollute the minds of our children, indoctrinating them into a world view that opposes God and His Word.

Historically Christians have two “safe havens” where we could retreat from the insanity and growing evil of this world: Our churches and homes. Well sadly a growing number of churches are selling out to the world so as not to offend it; and now even the privacy of our homes and our very minds are under attack by the dangerous growth of highly invasive technology.

Eric Barger has been extensively researching how technology is being set up to manipulate and one day control us. This morning he joins us to discuss his new series “Home Invasion”.

The Danger of Ignoring the Old Testament

Remember “Cliff’s Notes”? They were short summaries of books that would perhaps give a student enough information to pass an exam on the book, but not enough to understand the depth and importance of the written work. Many of us who were students before the invention of the internet probably relied on Cliff’s Notes more than we should have.

Well, are we as Christians approaching God’s Word with a “Cliff’s Notes” attitude? We understand enough to think we are saved, but we fail to grasp the eternal truth and principles of what God has given us in His Word, often at our own peril. Bible studies tend to concentrate on the New Testament, ignoring the rich history and timeless principles God gave us going back to Genesis.

Pastor Mike Abendroth joins us this morning to discuss one of the most fascinating accounts of the Bible in 1 Kings Chapter 18. The unique list of characters in this account include the Prophet Elijah; Ahab, one of the worst kings of Israel; Jezebel his scheming, idolatrous wife; and the false prophets of the false god Baal. What lessons can we learn and apply from this biblical account to our world today?

Reviving an Increasingly Sleepy Church

As we see the wickedness and evil of this world increase at an alarming rate, the beauty of the bride of Jesus Christ, His Church, should be shining all the more radiantly. But while several churches remain faithful to God and refuse to compromise on His Word, a growing number seek compromise with the world for a variety of reasons. Perhaps fear, money or popularity are ruling the hearts of many church leaders instead of a passion for God and His Word.

But there is another culprit in this problem: A growing number of professing Christians prefer a message from the church that validates the desire of their flesh instead of challenging us to walk in holiness by the power of God’s Word and Spirit. And if the pastor dares teach a message about sin, confession and repentance—well they will just pick up and find a more accepting church where they can feel good about themselves.

Today we take an honest look at why the Christian Church in America is failing to shine brightly and point people to their only hope–the gospel of Jesus Christ–at a time when people feel more hopeless than ever. Pastor Jeff Solwold of Calvary Chapel Church in Madison, Wisconsin joins us for a frank discussion of the crisis we face and the only lasting solution: God and His complete Word.

The Rumblings of a Major Earthquake

Catastrophic earthquakes are often preceded by minor tremors as the earth beneath us begins to prepare for a major shaking. To ignore these tremors is to court disaster as we are unprepared for what is about to happen.

The Bible tells us that in the final days this world will go through cataclysmic change never seen before on both a physical and spiritual level. And many biblical scholars believe we are now witnessing these minor tremors warning us that everything around us is about to change in a very profound and eternal way.

One of these biblical scholars is Pastor Carl Gallups, author of several best-selling books that warn us of what the Bible prophesies in these final days. Are we witnessing the beginning of the end of this world and the soon return of Jesus Christ to judge mankind and establish His everlasting Kingdom?

Meaningful Christian Living & Evangelism

Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life” was a best seller that got many Christians searching for God’s “purpose” for their lives. Our guest this morning says searching for our “purpose” is a wild goose chase because once you think you’ve found it the world will change its focus and you’ll end up like those dogs we see in videos chasing their tails while getting nowhere fast and becoming dizzy and frustrated. He says rather Christians should focus on the meaning of our lives–something by the way clearly defined in God’s Word.

Pastor Randy White joins us this morning to discuss the difference between purpose and meaning, along with the importance of using Biblical Exposition in evangelism.

We’ll also discuss an intriguing study about how “Generation Z” is the least Christian generation in our nation’s history–and why one Christian researcher thinks that is actually a good thing.
