Kanye West: Former Blasphemer Now Christian Brother

Breaking: Kanye West is human! Yes he is apparently a new convert to Christianity. Yes he seems to be bearing some fruit for the kingdom of God. Yes, he was a blasphemer, idolater, self-worshiper. Yes, he has a long way to go.

But we’ve heard from pastors, celebrities, ministry leaders, and fans. We’ve heard many good reports about the sincerity and boldness of Kanye’s faith in Christ and enthusiasm for the gospel.

Bottom line: let’s pray for his growth and maturity, and watch with cautious optimism.

Witchcraft: from Culture to Classroom to Church?

All Hallows Eve, All Saints Day, Halloween, Day of the Dead, Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas. The list could go on. As Christians, we live for Jesus Christ and celebrate Him. To live is Christ. He said to His followers “You are the light of the world.” What does that mean? How then should we live and can light mix with darkness?

We recently talked about Halloween and its origins, and discussed how Christians should celebrate it if at all. But we’re moving on to something that is evident in our culture and country year-round, sometimes obvious, often subtle: witchcraft. It’s prevalent in our culture and entertainment industry, kids games, the Internet, and in public school curriculum.

How has the church generally responded?

Study on ‘Discipline of the Mind and Devotion’

It takes time, commitment, and discipline to train our flesh and mature in Christ, and one of the most important disciplines is investing in God’s Word. Growth in personal holiness is determined by our progress in self-discipline.

Victory always comes at a price. The effective Christian life demands we exercise self-discipline in areas like food, drink, sleep, our speech, family priorities, work, leisure, time management, and money. We must exercise self-control and restrict our liberties in whatever would hinder us from winning the prize.

Friendship Over Truth?

There’s an old saying, “politics makes strange bedfellows,” but these days professing Christianity, government, and worldliness also seem to be aligning more often, developing very strange partnerships.  We’ve seen so-called “Celebrity pastors” often embrace Hollywood stars or elite sports celebrities who claim to be Christians, but they often do so without a modicum of discernment or wisdom, causing more confusion in a a church that is confused enough already.

In our final segment today we look at a resolution passed by the Democratic Party that applauds “non-religious Americans” while disdaining Christian churchgoers. Our guest today is Don Veinot of Midwest Christian Outreach. He joins Mike and David to discuss how friendship seems to be more important than truth to a growing number of Christian leaders, and how heresy is on the rise in the church itself.

Are We Prepared?

In our first segment, we visit with Dr. Corey Miller, president and CEO of Ratio Christi Ministries, discussing the growing threats to religious freedoms on school campuses.

Mike and David also look at a perspective on persecution from David Curry, President of Open Doors, USA.  Mr. Curry admonishes the American Church for being enamored with entertainment while our Christian brothers and sisters around the world face imprisonment, torture and even death fore their faith in Jesus Christ.  Are we as a church detached from our suffering family in Christ?

The Peace of God

Paul tells us in Philippians Chapter 4 that we should rejoice in the Lord at all times, not be anxious and receive the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding.  Now which of us would not want total peace?  Yet which of us as Christians truly experiences it?

We have been forgiven of our sins and received the promise of eternity with God in heaven, yet we continue to struggle and worry about this life.  Instead of exhibiting peace we are often filled with angst.

Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute joins Mike and Crash today to discuss what the peace of God looks like and how we can enter it and enjoy the life He has given us.

Spiritual Disorientation in the Church?

It is quite enough that the Christian Church faces a world increasingly confusing and hostile toward God and His Word.  That is a significant enough battle for a church that is focused and standing on the Word of God.  But when the church becomes confused about what is right and wrong according to God this battle becomes all the more difficult. Mike and David look at some news stories that show rampant confusion infiltrating some churches including one liberal church adding a “Psychic” to its staff and another teaching that God’s gender is “neutral”, and a pastor at a Christian College commencement praying and asking God to come against fossil fuels and “straight white men”.

IPhones, Education Leading Causes of Youth Depression

Few Christian and conservative media outlets have been warning about this for years. Young people today are more anxious and depressed – some even suicidal – than any other generation in our history. The studies and statistics do not lie, so now is it finally time to confront these issues head-on? Maybe. We have known for decades that godless agendas have been infesting public schools across America including Atheism, Humanism, socialism, and LGBT indoctrination. But what is affecting children the most when it comes to depression and mental health, these agendas or their i Phones, friends, and social media? We believe it is all of these, and other factors.Today we discuss the ongoing moral decline in culture due to the massive influence of Hollywood, government schools, media, and technology. The main culprit being within a child and parent’s control: use of iPhones and social meda.  We share a shocking study of how depression and suicidal thoughts among young people is off the charts as our education system continues confusing them about life, morality, gender, and sexuality.

Pyrite Christianity in America

Pyrite is a mineral made up primarily of iron that looks like gold, thus it’s nickname of “fool’s gold.”  It looks like valuable gold but in reality, it is generally useless and of little to no value.

As America continues celebrating godlessness and too many members of churches fail to look significantly different than the secular culture taking over this nation. A growing number of churches and professing Christians are holding “fool’s gold” thinking it will save them when they stand before Jesus Christ as judge, only to find out what they hold is useless and even abhorrent before our Lord and Savior.

Elijah Abraham is a former Muslim and now born-again believer who travels around the world proclaiming the gospel, teaching pastors, and equipping believers who face constant threats of persecution.  He shares insights about what he has witnessed with believers here in America compared to churches in countries where persecution is often a way of life. Elijah points out the lack of maturity, discipleship, and sound doctrine in too many American churches.

Open War is Upon Us: the Reality of Spiritual Warfare

When darkness increases, light shines the brightest. So how does America look today? Where is the salt and light? Are Christians equipped for the spiritual and cultural battles we are faced with today? As we strive to share the Gospel, there is also a spiritual war going on against Christ and His truth. The Bible encourages believers to be soldiers for Christ. And in Ephesians 6 Paul tells us to put on the armor of God. Why?

Believers need preparation and protection! Paul writes that the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, the only offensive weapon for believers. We must speak the word and, in order to do that we need to know the word of God.

Just Tell Me What Makes Me Feel Good!

“Please, pastor, tell me what I want to hear. Make me feel good. No hard truths, no tough topics, just love and grace and encouragement. Don’t get too deep. I just want to enjoy my life and not to be challenged in my faith.” Sound extreme? People may not admit it, but we might be surprised how common this attitude is among churchgoers in America.

Today’s guest is evangelist, pastor/teacher, and former Muslim, Elijah Abraham.
