When Objectivity Sells out to Blatant Bias

Media has historically been referred to as the “fourth leg of our republic” because of its ability and past willingness to accurately report news and uncover hidden agendas within government. But what happens when the media decides to drive its own agenda instead of reporting news? The abortion worldview is one that is defended and promoted via most media outlets either directly or indirectly. Many feel we are seeing the results: a hard left turn toward progressive ideology and socialism in our nation.

Joining us to discuss bias and agendas within the media is Katie Yoder, Associate Culture Editor of Media Research Center. Has responsible journalism permanently left the building within mainstream media? Yes.

The Basics of the Faith, and the Protestant Movement

This year, 2017 marks the 500 year anniversary of Luther’s reformation which changed the religious world in 1517. Today we continue our look at exactly what Luther wanted to accomplish and his impact on Christianity. We also look at the five “Solas” of the protestant movement and discuss their exact meaning and impact on our faith.

What is the future spiritual plight of America and can we even speculate at this point? Some hope that the natural disasters and political strife we face will inspire Americans to repent, unite and return to our Christian foundation and heritage. But have we become so arrogant and comfortable as a nation and a people that repenting before God is just unthinkable?

Is the World on the Brink of Chaos?

Today is the 16 year anniversary of September 11 and the horrendous attacks on our nation when Muslim terrorists murdered 3,000 people in the worst terrorist attack in our history. But now we wake up to Florida and Texas devastated by powerful hurricanes, a madman in North Korea threatening America, boasting he will destroy us; and the Middle East nearing a potential implosion that could lead to World War III. All this in a world that increasingly hates God and His Word, and a church in America that is sinking further into apathy and mediocrity. All signs seem to point to a coming crisis that could usher in what the Bible warned about: a crisis so large that the world would embrace a man of sin and evil as its savior.

Today’s guest, Gary Kah has written about the coming one world government for thirty years joins us to put current world events under the lens of scripture.

A Complicated Relationship

The relationship between the U.S. and Israel has historically been strong. Over the past decade or so however, it has grown more complicated as U.S Presidents have supported recognition of a Palestinian State by calling on Israel to give up some of its lands in exchange for peace.

Another relationship has grown more complicated as well, that between the Christian Church and Israel, as many progressive Christians are calling for a boycott of Israel to protest what it calls “oppression” of Palestinians – the very same Palestinians who call for the destruction of Israel and the death of all Jews. Now, the plot thickens even more in complexity with a ruling by the Jewish Sanhedrin outlawing the marriage of Messianic Jews in Israel. How will this affect the way Christians view Israel in these perilous times?

Author and Pastor Carl Gallups, an expert on prophecy and modern day Israel, joins us to discuss this breaking news as we dissect it in context of God’s Word.

America Divided: Are There Any Solutions?

There have always been divisions and opposing opinions within our nation. But historically, real statesmen have risen up to bridge the gap and move our nation forward, uniting us around the principles that made this nation great. But the divisions and animosity we are seeing these days have some worried that we might actually be headed toward another civil war. This morning we begin to cover an article that outlines the deep divisions in our nation.

For the first half of today’s program, we check in with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project to discuss how we as Christians can open up discussions with unbelievers, helping them to consider the Bible as the source of truth and real answers. We also discuss tactics used by unbelievers and secularists to shut down constructive dialogue and discussion.

The Seductive Siren of Entitlement

The enemy of our souls has many weapons to distract us in our journey as Christians. Perhaps none is more effective than leading us to believe that we deserve something more from God, that salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ is not enough. Somehow God also “owes us” happiness, wealth, great relationships, and a stress free life.

The “Entitlement Mentality” rampant in our nation is destroying us economically, socially, and spiritually. Many young people are demanding free college, free health care, and full acceptance of their beliefs and values even though they contradict the Word of God. The path to success through hard work and sacrifice has been replaced with the idea that the world and others owe us something just because we exist.

Christians are not immune to this entitlement mentality either. It’s not enough that God has rescued us from eternal damnation through the sacrifice of His Son; and rather than understanding our indebtedness to God for His grace and forgiveness, we assume that God should give us something more. The apostle Paul called himself a slave to Christ; many professing Christians look at God as a “slave” to our earthly desires.

Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute joins us to discuss the dangers of the entitlement mentality, to both our nation and to the Christian Church.

Christian Mom Shares Her Story Re: Public School Transgender Agenda

If you think the transgender movement could never happen locally, think again. A concerned Christian parent joins us in studio today and shares some of her heartbreaking story. She has been aware of the transgender agenda in her son’s public school since he first opened up to her two years ago about what is really happening in our local schools. This mother is reaching out in the hopes other Christian parents will get involved and help raise awareness.

We’ll call her Jenny. She called us a few weeks back to share some of the details of what her son has had to deal with and she courageously agreed to come in and share her alarming story with Stand Up for the Truth listeners. We’ll hear from Jenny about how the school administration and superintendent responded to her concerns. We’ll also be discussing school privacy policies leaving parents with few rights, and teenagers on school field trips and camping outings that include co-ed sleeping arrangements due to students who identify as transgender. All this in addition to students using whatever bathroom they wanted to use in the school itself.

Also, just what is “normal”? Well, that depends on who is in charge, doesn’t it? And these days it is becoming more and more apparent that the ones in charge have one thing in common: A hatred for God and His Word. If you do not get in line with their definition of “normal” you will be labeled a “hate group”, subject to ridicule and even violence. One Christian organization is fighting back, suing the Southern Poverty Law Center over their designation of so-called “hate groups.”

Islam, World Events, & More Liberal Hypocrisy

This is telling: a teacher in California promotes transgender propaganda to her students without parental permission; a parent complains, and the school system says the teacher has the right to share her personal views. But a High School football coach kneels by himself to pray after a game, some players join him, and the liberal 9th Circus Court of Appeals says he acted unconstitutionally by “imposing” his private views on the students who attended the game. So public employees can freely express their anti-biblical views if they are liberal and a Christian public employee cannot privately express his beliefs. Is there not a glaring double standard here?

In our first segment, we are joined by Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now born-again believer who travels the world equipping Christians to share the gospel with Muslims. We ask him about Replacement international terrorism, Replacement theology, and why Islam is generally seen as a darling religion of the left when the Quran calls for imprisonment or death to homosexuals and infidels, and condones the mistreatment of women.

Quick Biblical Answers & Political Correctness Unhinged

PODCAST: Just when you think political correctness couldn’t get any more absurd, the left takes it to another level of insanity. ESPN has relieved a college football announcer of his assignment to call a game, not because of his private or controversial views, but because of his name. They are worried that his name given to him at birth might make some of their audience “uncomfortable”.

Also, what percentage of Americans actually view themselves as sinners? Well the answer might surprise you.

In our first segment, we check in with author, Bryan Osborne, whose new book Quick Answers to Tough Questions can help Christians be prepared to share the reason for our eternal hope from God’s Word when the world asks difficult questions.

Sharing the Gospel in Africa

PODCAST: In spite of political roadblocks and intense persecution the gospel of salvation is being shared with every tribe and tongue throughout God’s world. And while most of the attention regarading persecution comes from countries in the Middle East, missionaries in Africa are diligently working to spread the good news. This morning we visit with Dave Bell who has been a missionary in Kenya for a decade. How is God’s Word being received in a nation that is poor and surrounded by radical Islam?

We also continue our discussion on racism in America and how many on the left continue to live in hypocrisy by crying out against racism while supporting organizations like Planned Parenthood and promoting Marxist worldviews that are anything but tolerant or accepting.

Tearing Down American History

PODCAST: The ugly protests and riots in Virginia last week have stirred deep emotion in the hearts of many. One of the pillars of American freedom is the right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly; but the necessary downside to that freedom is that hateful, bigoted organizations like the KKK are able to assemble and spew their message of hatred.

The violence that was sparked has led to a call for a tearing down of statues and monuments of historical importance to our nation. But is this a wise and prudent thing? And if we start tearing down these monuments where does it lead and end? Should anything that offends us now be torn down? What about holocaust museums and displays? What about the money we use which has America’s founders and past presidents faces on them? We’ll discuss this in our second segment.

In our first segment we are joined by William Murray of The Religious Freedom Coalition. As our nation’s media obsesses with the racial issue and the dysfunction of the Trump Administration it is easy to forget that thousands are dying as a result of violence in the Middle East, and that Christians around the world are being imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

All Eyes on Israel; Nabeel Qureshi, and Pastor’s Wives

The Bible is clear that in the final years before the Lord’s return, Israel will be ground zero for activity ushering in His return. Jerusalem is called a stumbling block to the world and these days approximately 25% of all discussion within the United Nations focuses on the conflict between Israel and her neighbors who have publicly stated they want it wiped off the map.

We also remember apologist, #Nabeel Qureshi (34) and his conversion from Islam, his heart for ministry, and his legacy. After a year long battling stomach cancer, Nabeel left to be with the Lord last Saturday. We also discussed the expectations the church generally places on pastors and specifically, their wives! There is not enough attention paid to the importance of loving, praying for and supporting them.

We’re joined on air by Jim Fletcher of Prophecy Matters to discuss the importance of Israel, Jerusalem, Damascas, and the Middle east in light of Bible prophecy. We also debunk the September 23 prediction of the rapture or apocalypse.

The Nonsense of “Christians Shouldn’t Judge”

One of the most misleading statements infiltrating much of the Christian Church these days is the statement that “Christians shouldn’t judge.” This misrepresentation of God’s Word has been used to excuse sinful behavior and render us ineffective in living lives of holiness and sharing the gospel with the lost. In reality, the Bible teaches us that Christians should be discerning and use sound judgment in our decisions every day, from the choices we make to our interactions with believers and unbelievers. What we judge and how we judge is where the rubber meets the road.

Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute joins us this morning to look at what the bible teaches us about making judgment on our own actions and the actions of others, believers and unbelievers.

Christians, Public Education, and Divisive Doctrine

We have all heard the sad statistics that a majority of young Christians leave their faith by the time they leave high school. Many more walk away from God after one year of college. And while there are certainly several factors in play, one that is often sited is public education and its clearly secular humanist agenda. Public school teachers are often accused of lying to students, particularly regarding evolution, but are they part of the agenda or do they really believe it?

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins us to look at this issue and discuss the importance of biblical doctrine–even if it might sometimes be seen as divisive.
