Does the Bible Answer Every Question We Have?

We know the Bible is the Spirit-breathed, infallible, sufficient Word of God.  We know it is eternal truth.  But does it give us every answer to every question we might have about life? What about ‘matters of conscience’? Do we read things into the Bible in order to maintain our own beliefs? Do we try to look righteous like the legalists and Pharisees of Jesus’ time?  Do we ignore or discount principles clearly stated in Scripture to justify our sin like the Gnostics or today’s emergents?

Pastor Randy White (no, not the ex-spouse to Paula White!) joins us this morning to discuss these important questions. And in our final segment we look at the problem of having celebrities in our churches, exemplified by a recent statement by Justin Bieber saying his church, Hillsong, welcomes open homosexuals to attend their church. What is meant by a “welcoming church” these days? Sure, you can “come just as you are,” but Jesus said to repent, not to stay in sin – whatever the sin.

A Freedom That Leads To Slavery

Freedom is a precious gift; a gift that must be cherished and protected against those who would seek to enslave us. While Christians around the world suffer from increased persecution, and we here in America see our freedoms being threatened, there is an even more precious freedom we must guard and protect: The freedoms given to born-again Christians by the grace and Spirit of God.

Twice in his first letter to the Corinthian Church Paul warned about the importance of tempering freedoms with responsibility. He said regarding what we consume that all things were lawful, but not necessarily beneficial and warned against the things we consume becoming our masters. Today in America there is much that vies for our attention and affection. How do we enjoy the freedoms of this life as disciples of Jesus without allowing ourselves to be led into bondage to them?

Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute and Silver Birch Ranch has written and taught extensively on how we find the correct biblical balance between enjoying good things God has given us while not elevating them to a place of ‘worship” in our lives.

Fighting for Those Caught in Sexual Lies of the Enemy

We start with a basic truth: All humans are sinful and rebellious against God until the grace of God opens our eyes to our sin, leading us to confession, repentance and believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord of our lives. If not for the grace of God, any one of us could be deceived into believing the lies we hear throughout our culture and even in the church. Many of us who have been enlightened and saved by faith will struggle with temptation and sin until the day we die.

Today we tackle the growing confusion regarding sex, gender, identity, and sin and what we can do to lead others to the truth of God and His Word. For twenty years, Mike Levenhagen of Reclamation Resource Center has been dedicated to speaking the truth in love to those not only imprisoned to homosexual or gender-related lies, but also to those who struggle with heterosexual lust and adultery. Check out the podcast and hear Mike’s testimony.

Changing Ethics and Morals in a Turbulent World

“Situational Ethics” seems to be the standard by which the world is evolving. No longer is there a strong sense of absolute right or wrong; rather people of the world simply decide what is “right” based on their own personal preference and situation. The final verses of The Book of Judges summarizes us perfectly as a society: “In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 21:25)

A society cannot survive long when there is no righteous standard of ethics and morality. Is our nation on the cusp of moral and ethical anarchy? And how will we as the church respond as morality crumbles?

Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute joins us to discuss Christian ethics and morality in a nation that is ushering God and His Word out the door.

When Harry Became Sally & Hollywood Hypocrisy

Today we touch on reviews of a new book by Ryan T. Anderson titled When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment, a comprehensive look at the transgender movement sweeping our nation.  Anderson’s book is being proclaimed a “comprehensive, compassionate look” at this phenomenon sweeping our nation and changing the landscape of public education, social media and the legal system.

In the first segment, we catch up with Tina Marie Griffin, Counter Culture Mom to discuss how parents can safeguard their children against unbiblical influences of movies, television and video games.  We touch on a new television show, “Living Biblically,” and ask if it’s an attempt by CBS to give Christianity a fair shake or is there a hidden agenda here?

Other topics include the lowest Oscar ratings in history, Jimmy Kimmel insults Mike Pence, and Hollywood hypocrisy on promoting violence.

The Word or the World?

Truth is the self-expression of God. Either His Word is right, or the world is right. Which is it? Enemies of God have caused people to doubt the truth about creation, our origins and gender, life’s meaning, marriage, sin, eternity, judgment, and the deity of Jesus Christ.

WHY do you think there is confusion today about what bathroom people are supposed to use in public? Why wasn’t this an issue 100 years ago? 1,000 years ago?

Has God changed or has America changed?

Malcolm Muggeridge stated:

“One of the peculiar sins of the twentieth century which we’ve developed to a very high level is the sin of credulity. It has been said that when human beings stop believing in God they believe in nothing. The truth is much worse: they believe in anything.”

The United States of Insanity

The growth rate of depravity, immorality, and non-Christian spirituality in our nation is reaching alarming levels. In Romans Chapter 1, Paul says that because men rejected the truth of God, He turned them over to a debased mind to think and do unspeakable evil.

The United States of America, established by our founding fathers on Judeo-Christian, biblical principles, is on a steady march toward complete moral and spiritual destruction. How do we, as committed disciples of Jesus Christ who love God’s word and what our nation once stood for, fight the good fight and continue to point people to the only hope: the gospel of Jesus Christ?

This morning, we cover more shocking news and trends including the State of Delaware poised to allow 5 year-old children to decide their gender and race without their parent’s consent. And, a substitute teacher in Wisconsin is under fire from the Freedom From Religion Foundation for sharing the gospel with students.

We kick off today’s program with Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Action.

Worldview Matters: Truth or Consequences?

After thousands of years of constant attacks, opposition, and intense scrutiny by critics − warfare that no other work has ever seen − the Bible has withstood the onslaught, has gained credibility, and the Christian faith has continued to thrive throughout the world. Why?
No other written work has the power to convict people of their sin, the ability to change human nature, and offers a permanent solution to man’s greatest problem.

Consider the uniqueness of the Bible: a record of God’s message to His creation, miracles, history, an honest assessment of evil and the heart of man, unique claims, a plan of salvation, and a specific description and vision of the end times.

Eight Areas of Interest to Christians in 2018

Israel, America, Trump, ISIS, media bias, Planned Parenthood, Hollywood, technology, transgenderism, “tolerance,” and a lukewarm Christian church. Overall, 2017 was a faith-testing year for many of us. Good will continue being called evil and truth will continue to be attacked and redefined. If America stays on its current course down this destructive road where there is no longer objective truth or fixed standards of morality, we’re in big trouble. BUT GOD…

We don’t need to be news junkies, but we should be informed and knowledgeable so we can watch, pray, and be ready for whatever the Lord will bring in 2018. In no particular order, here are some key subjects to consider…

Standing Against the Tide of Moral Relativism

We profess to know the truth of Scripture and yet too many people seem to be less than certain about the very nature and origins of humanity. Satan is the father of lies and author of confusion, and in this darkness we find ourselves debating history; not only the creation of the universe, but whether or not God even exists.

Many believers agree Jesus is God forever, but the things of this world pull us away from our pursuit of His will. As a result, we choose to focus on the here and now which is part of the problem. Due to our lack of priorities and indifference about the culture war, we have allowed godlessness and relativism to advance.

Barna Research surveyed Americans last year on moral absolutes and found only 35 percent of people believe moral truth is absolute. The conclusion? “Christian morality is being ushered out of American social structures and off the cultural mainstage,” and this results in the broader culture trying to fill the void.

Mike’s Commentary: History, Morality, and America’s Downfall

If we refuse to sound the alarm and let people continue to drown in the depth of their sin and defiance of God, will their blood be on our hands?  Will we find more Christian leaders with the courage to stand up and speak out boldly against the evils so rampant in our nation?  Or will they continue to cave in to political correctness and the opinions of men?

Our nation is consuming a poisonous concoction of their own brewing:  Arrogance against God; sexual immorality that overshadows the sins of Sodom; and murder of innocent children that is not only ignored, but celebrated.  As Christians we can point them to the cure — God and His Word.  If we cower from doing so we are guilty of spiritual malpractice and will answer to God for our cowardice.

It is not simply America that God is patiently watching and assessing, it is each of us who claims to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and particularly those whom God has elevated to positions of leadership.  Will we be found as faithful?  Or will we be proven to be frauds who honor Him with our lips while our hearts are far from Him?

Churches Built on Shifting Sands

In our final segment today, Mike and David look at Willow Creek Church’s implosion based on the sexual harassment allegations against former pastor Bill Hybels. Last week, the entire Board of Elders, along with the new pastoral leadership team resigned, admitting they failed in their investigation on the allegations against Hybels. The question now is does this moral failure and implosion discredit Willow Creek’s global Leadership Summit and the Willow Creek Association, which was supposed to build leaders in the church? We discuss WHY the Willow Creek fallout matters and what can true Christians learn from it.

First, today’s guest is Pastor Randy White. We discuss how to respond in an increasingly caustic, divisive culture, including interacting on social media. We also discuss good and bad daily devotionals and why we should not recommend any devotional instead of God’s Word. We also discuss some interesting Bible facts you may not have known are in God’s Word.

Pastors: Stop Imitating and Embracing the World

Today Mike and David discuss a provocative and compelling article by Shane Idleman that challenges pastors to stop imitating the world and return to the fundamentals of being a pastor: Teaching the complete Word of God, challenging the flock assigned to them to grow in holiness, and to quit worrying about offending members of their church. Idelman makes an interesting observation in his article: that at a time when “unity” is the buzz word in many churches perhaps it is time for a little separation to divide true born-again believers from the goats.

In our first segment, Mike and David talk with a Messianic Jew who has committed his life to reaching Jews with the truth and gospel of Jesus Christ. We will discuss why most Jews reject Jesus as messiah and how we can share the truth of the gospel with them.

Refuting the Deceptions of Islam

Human nature is such that if a lie is repeated often enough people will believe it if they are not grounded in the truth of God and His Word. We have witnessed this in the areas of abortion and acceptance of homosexuality within our culture and even in many professing Christian churches. A vast majority of Americans used to oppose these issues, but now over time many people – even Christians – have caved to culture and generally accept both practices.

The same appears to be happening with Islam. Deceivers and those they have deceived keep repeating lies about Islam and an increasing number of Americans jumped on board. Even in the Christian Church an increasing number of pastors and church members think Islam is an “Abrahamic faith” and that Muslims and Christians worship the same god. But the Quran and other Islamic “holy books” contradict these ideas. And certainly, anyone familiar with the Bible knows that Allah of the Quran is clearly not the God of the Bible.

What other deceptions about Islam are people accepting today as truth? Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now born-again believer joins us to discuss the issues. Elijah travels around the world equipping and teaching pastors about Islam and how to reach Muslims with the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Who is Influencing Whom?

The Church should be full of salt, preserving culture, providing flavor, and being a positive influence in secular society. Instead, by any measurable standard, immorality is increasing and secular culture is infiltrating and influencing the church in part by creating division and deceiving many. Whether out of ignorance, fear, or heartfelt but compassion, more congregants as well as church leaders are embracing secular principles and beliefs in the hopes of attracting the world.

Today, Mike and David look at several news stories addressing this subject, including the ongoing controversy at Willow Creek Church as it prepares for its Global Leadership Summit. We also discuss a survey revealing the majority of Christians think God wants them to prosper financially, and the author of ‘The Shack’ claims unbelievers can still be saved even after they die.
