Looking Behind the Curtain

In our final segment today we look at comments by Joy Behar of The View who suggested Vice President Pence might be mentally ill because he speaks to God through prayer and says that God often speaks to him.  Is this religious intolerance where our nation is headed?  People who believe in God and seek Him in prayer brandished as mentally ill?  According to Hollywood liberals and many on the Left, yes.

In reality, God’s Word in Romans 1 says those that reject the truth of God are the ones whose actions become deranged and sick.  And a careful observation of many celebrities, media, and others once again confirms the truth of God’s Word.

Also, as the federal government grows larger and more intrusive by the day more and more people are wondering where our nation is headed.  And  theories about a “shadow government” behind the scenes that is manipulating policy and leaders toward a one world government have moved from a conspiracy theory of the paranoid to mainstream thought as government invades every sector of our lives.

And in breaking news yesterday, a mentally sick and evil man walked into his former school that had expelled him and opened fire on students and faculty killing at least seventeen people.  There have already been calls for expanded government control of guns and schools in reaction to this tragedy. Is this the best path?

True Christians and students of God’s Word know there is indeed a conspiracy to bring all people under the umbrella of a one world government because God’s Word tells us it will happen.  But while the deluded left believes this will help mankind, we know the leader of this united world is anything but benevolent. In fact he is a puppet of Satan himself.

Pastor Carl Gallups is a former law enforcement officer and a student of biblical prophecy. He has written best-selling books, has also studied events in our nation, and the growth of government deception and oppression.

The Influence of Ann Voskamp

Ann Voskamp is a New York Times best-selling author with a large following among Christians, particularly Christian women. Many have said her books about pain and brokenness have helped them connect in a deeper way with God.

But Voskamp is not without her critics. Some believe her writings promote unbiblical mysticism and emergent theology.

Pastor Mike Abendroth joins us this morning to discuss Voskamp’s books and influence, along with continuing our discussion from last month on challenges facing the Christian Church in America. Today we focus on the gospel that is often presented in churches these days. Is it the one, true gospel and consistent with God’s Word? Or a dangerous path away from God?

Disproportionate Reaction to Religions

There is an interesting dichotomy when we look at how two major religions–Christianity and Islam–are increasingly perceived and treated in our nation.

Biblical Christianity calls on us to love all people, even those who are directly opposed to and violate God’s Word. Islam calls for punishment and even death to classes of people such as homosexuals or those who call themselves “transgender”.

Biblical Christianity teaches that men should honor and cherish their wives; Islam teaches that wives are more like property than cherished partners. They can be beaten or divorced on a whim.

So which of these religions should be the one feared by women and homosexuals? Islam. Yet it continues to get a pass with feminists, the radical homosexual movement and the media, while Christianity is framed as a religion of hate and bigotry. Which religion is being kicked out of schools and shouted down in public? Christianity, while Islam is promoted celebrated in public schools and feminist circles.

Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now Evangelist and apologist for biblical Christianity joins us this morning to discuss this contradiction from reality.

More Division and Dysfunction Within the Church

Today we look at an important controversy within a Christian denomination. This is a legitimate controversy over an important doctrine: predestination. Does God predestine certain people for heaven or hell? Doesn’t man have a choice to confess, repent and submit to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior? Southern Baptists are grappling with this crucial question as New Reformed Calvinism makes an impact on many members of the denomination.

In our first segment, we check in with Tina Marie Griffin, the Counter Culture Mom to discuss dangers to our children in television, movies, music and video games. Topics today include virtual reality, the need for more Christian movies and video games, Facebook censorship, and a stern warning about one of the godless, offensive prime time TV shows. Also, were there satanic images in the background of the Super Bowl halftime show?

Facing Adversity As Christians

As Christians adversity is an interesting thing from this perspective: None of us truly wants to experience it; but if we are not then we are probably not truly sold out for Jesus Christ and the gospel. If this sounds harsh you can blame Jesus Himself because he warned that opposition and adversity were sure to happen to His followers. So if we are not facing adversity or opposition perhaps the first thing we should do is ask God to reveal why our lives do not seem offensive to the world.

When adversity and opposition arise how do we handle it as committed Christians? Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute wrote a book titled “Beyond the Resistance: Learning to Face Adversity” that is the subject of our discussion this morning.

Leaving LDS; and Super Faith in Philadelphia

Does God care about football? Maybe not, but He does care about the hearts of men and women. He does care about those who are unashamed of the Gospel and who give Him glory in this life. It seems the Christian faith of many players on the Philadelphia Eagles is contagious, not just in their locker room, but outside the team as well. We’ll talk about some very encouraging stories of men who are boldly standing up for Jesus and trying to walk the talk.

Today’s guest is Dr. Corey Miller, PhD, is the President/CEO of Ratio Christi. While he grew up in Utah as a sixth generation Mormon, he came to Christ in 1988 and he has since been a youth and college pastor, a Bible college and university professor. He is co-author of the outstanding book, Leaving Mormonism: Why Four Scholars Changed their Minds. Ratio Christi is a global movement that equips university students and faculty to give historical, philosophical, and scientific reasons for following Jesus Christ.

Biblical Counseling

Christians are not immune to problems, confusion and sometimes even feeling somewhat depressed.  The world offers several options including Psychology and medication, but as John Rosemond discussed yesterday these can sometimes lead to more problems.  The Word of God is absolute, eternal truth, sufficient for all things.

In our second half hour today, we interview Pastor Rob Green from Faith Church in Lafayette, Indiana and discuss a biblical counseling course being offered in our area to help Christians minister to one another with wisdom when life becomes challenging.

In our first segment, we check in with Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Council to discuss president Trump’s State of the Union speech, the reaction of the Left, the Senate failing to pass the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, and an important election coming up this month in WI as well as obstacles to passing strong pro-life legislation in Wisconsin.

Seeing the Big, Eternal Picture Around Us

So many distractions and obligations fill our time these days it is easy to fail to see the big picture when it comes to history, societies, and agendas being fulfilled all around us.

God has a plan for this world and every person. Jesus Christ will return one day to rule for eternity and judge the eternal souls of every human being, and nothing Satan does will thwart God’s plan. But that does not stop Satan from trying to deceive people by convincing them that we can plot our own future and eternity, apart from God’s will and plan. And with each passing year Satan is setting the stage for the rule of his puppet, anti-Christ, through complicit people and earthly systems.

Our guest today is Patrick Wood who has written books and developed resources to help people see the big picture. He is a born-again believer exposing the globalist movement and he shares some thoughts about what is happening to us both behind the scenes and right under our noses. Historically, the powerful and most influential have moved away from God, and he touches on the elitist Bilderberg group, Darwinism, Fabianism, Rockefellers, and the Trilateral Commission.

Your Comments & Questions

Good morning Christians…it’s Friday! OK, apologies to our more seasoned listeners who know that is a knockoff of the late Paul Harvey’s Friday radio greeting. But we really do love Fridays here at Stand Up For the Truth because we turn the show’s topics over to you. Your questions and comments are the focus and here are some of the things we’ll be discussing today:

Advice on starting a home church
Reconciling salvation by grace and the fruit of our works in the teachings of the Bible
“Little gods” theology espoused by many word faith preachers
The New Age promoted at your local YMCA
What to do when your boss asks you to stop reading your Bible during lunch hour bc some are offended
The Mark of the Beast in the book of Revelation; voluntary or forced?
Why do so few liberals speak up against Islam?
And an angry letter from a (Christian?) listener who says to “judge ye not” but claims there is a special place in hell for Christian conservatives who call out the sin of homosexuality and lesbianism.

Addressing the Growing Crisis in Public Education

Last week, an expelled student known for erratic behavior and run-ins with police returned to his former High School in Florida and murdered 17 people. Predictably, the liberal media’s primary message and solution is “more gun control”—a simplistic response to a complex crisis. Rather than looking deeper at the spiritual, it is made a political, Democrat vs Republican issue, which I believe is irresponsible.

Instead of taking the time to understand the underlying causes for these tragedies, liberals continue to blame guns–inanimate objects that only do what the person holding them makes them do. Why does the left spout this continuing response to violence? Because the only alternative is to acknowledge that sinful man can be evil—a direct contradiction to their liberal and often atheist beliefs.

So what can be done? Dr. Randy White joins us to discuss public education issues as well as some possible solutions. Then we’ll tackle the latest fad hitting higher education in our nation: White privilege.

Worldview Matters: Truth or Consequences?

After thousands of years of constant attacks, opposition, and intense scrutiny by critics − warfare that no other work has ever seen − the Bible has withstood the onslaught, has gained credibility, and the Christian faith has continued to thrive throughout the world. Why?
No other written work has the power to convict people of their sin, the ability to change human nature, and offers a permanent solution to man’s greatest problem.

Consider the uniqueness of the Bible: a record of God’s message to His creation, miracles, history, an honest assessment of evil and the heart of man, unique claims, a plan of salvation, and a specific description and vision of the end times.

Love and Marriage: The World’s Way vs God’s Way

Millions of people celebrate Valentine’s Day today and the influences of this world have men and women spending billions of dollars on flowers, chocolate, romantic dinners and getaways. And the man-made vision of a fat little cherub firing arrows at people inducing love seems to reinforce a faulty belief: that love is something that happens to us without a choice, like a chemical reaction or a feeling we just cannot fight.

But what exactly is love according to God’s Word? What should a strong, loving marriage look like? And why do nearly half of all marriages end in divorce? This sad reality even strikes professing Christians. Where are we going wrong?

We’re joined by Pastor Jeff Solwold of Calvary Chapel in Madison, Wisconsin to discuss God’s definition of love and His guidelines for a joyous marriage that glorifies Him, one in which honors one another. How do we as committed Christians have strong marriages even when things do not go according to our human desires, expectations, and plans?
