Double Speak: Islam, Feminism, and Eugene Peterson’s Flip Flop

Today, we will be discussing the controversial statement, and subsequent retraction, of Eugene Peterson’s endorsement of homosexual marriage as “biblical.” We will comment on an article from John Stonestreet at Breakpoint, a good perspective on why Christian leaders like Peterson are suddenly making confusing statements about homosexuality, and the damage it is doing to the Evangelical Church in America.

In our first segment we turn our attention to the emerging “double speak” of the left as it relates to Islam, Feminism, and progressive ideology in America. Why do liberals publicly support Islam, a system that stands against everything liberals value such as abortion, homosexuality and women’s rights? Ryan Mauro of The Clarion Project joins us to look at the hypocrisy of the left regarding Islam.

A Liberal Conundrum

Today we point to a story that exposes the hypocrisy of many liberals these days. What do the people that preach “tolerance” do when they run up against a religion that really does oppress anyone that disagrees with its doctrines? This morning we look at a mess Starbucks Coffee faces in Indonesia and Malaysia, heavily Muslim nations.

In our first half hour we are joined by Pastor Mike Abendroth of No Compromise Radio. Some of the topics we will address include the teaching of the eternal security for the true believer, something called the “sin of presumption,” and the challenges of raising Christian youth in the Church.

Listener Questions & Media Watch Friday

‘Where can we find a good church?’ This is among the questions we will address in our Listener Questions segment today. Other questions and comments include, “What does being an Evangelical Christian really men these days?” and, “Is Islam really an Abrahamic Faith?” Segment two begins with a comment from a listener saying she was disgusted with yesterday’s program about the persecution of Jack Phillips, suggesting we are hateful and judgmental. We will respond.

David also takes us through our Media Watch segment, helping us discern the agenda and misleading information much of secular media throws our way. What sources can be trusted and how do we cut through the noise and agenda of the media and know what is really going on?

We will conclude with our “Rightly Handling the Word” segment, discussing just how seriously true Christians should view our sins against God–and why seeing them for how bad they are actually benefits us.

Has Science become an Enemy of Biblical Christianity?

Modern science seems bent on manufacturing “evidence” to disprove the Bible and its account of creation. This version of science has been taught in public education and reinforced in secular media over the past 50 years, and it is taking its toll on the beliefs and views of a majority of people. But how reliable are the findings of modern science? Carl Kerby of Reasons for Hope joins us to discuss the growing conflict between the Bible and modern science.

In the third segment today, we also discuss the act of terrorism last night in London, a city teetering on the brink of chaos. This time the targets were Muslims leaving a Sunday night service at a Mosque.

A World Preparing to Kneel Before Anti-Christ

It is very difficult to escape the reality that Satan’s influence is growing by leaps and bounds in the days in which we live. The rise of Islamic terrorism, a religion clearly defined as a religion of anti-christ in the bible, along with the growing hedonism all around us are clear indications that mankind has decided we do not need God, and we would prefer to do things our way. And we should not be surprised at what we see because God’s Word warned us all these things would increase in the times leading up to the Lord’s return.

America certainly has enough of its own moral and spiritual problems, but this morning we focus on events in Europe and worldwide that are preparing the way for the “New World Order” where Satan’s puppet, anti-christ, will be worshiped as the savior of humanity, and most will blindly follow up while turning their backs on the one who died on a cross so we could be reconciled to God.

Pastor Carl Gallups joins us to look at a world lining up to reject God and embrace its true enemy: The one who seeks to destroy the eternal souls of all men.

Assessing President Trump’s Efforts in the Middle East

This morning we look at President Trump’s visit to the Middle East to try to rally Muslim nations against ISIS and terrorism, along with his ambitious hopes to bring peace to Israel and its enemies. We will look at his efforts from biblical and pragmatic viewpoints, and discuss some writings by Christian author, Bill Koenig, a White House corespondent. In the first segment we check in with Dr. Cal Beisner of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation to look at the radical environmental movement and its real agenda.

Peace in the Middle East?

President Trump recently stated, “peace in the Middle East may not be as difficult as many people think.” This is part of the message he hopes to convey to Muslim and Israeli leaders during his current visit. Well the author of The Art of the Deal will probably find that conducting business contracts and mergers is a lot easier than brokering peace between Israelis and Muslims who have sworn to wipe them off the face of the earth.

In our nation, many are concerned that under the Obama Administration, radical groups like The Muslim Brotherhood have become so ensconced within the fabric of our government that we are already living in very dangerous times. Joining us to discuss the growth and acceptance of Islam within our nation and government is Brigitte Gabriel of ACT! For America. Brigitte experienced first hand the brutality of radical Islam when the call for jihad affected her personally as a child in Lebanon.

National Security, Religious Freedom, and Biased Media

With terrorism on the rise, many Americans are naturally concerned with safety, wanting the federal government to inform us about hateful ideologies and protect us from terrorist organizations like ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood. But safety usually comes with a potentially severe price: Freedom. It is a difficult balance to maintain maximum safety without government intrusion into privacy, freedom of speech, or other liberties our Constitution guarantees us as citizens.

Also, there is a potentially dangerous trend within our National Security Agencies to become political as we are witnessing holdover members of the Obama Administration leaking damaging innuendo or facts about the Trump Administration to the press. Few would argue the media doesn’t want to undermine the President’s agenda and see him fail.

Ryan Mauro is a national security expert withe The Clarion Project and a Shillman Fellow. He joins us to discuss President Trump’s trip to the Middle East this weekend, as well as the growth of terrorism and what can be legally done about it.

Next, David Fiorazo presents another Media Watch segment concerning what he calls hypocritical, irresponsible, malignant media bias, and we discuss the increasing discrimination against Christians and conservatives in America.

Bright Light in the Midst of Great Darkness

Though you may not hear this in the news, Christians continue to be the most persecuted group around the world according to recent studies. Nearly 600 million believers were prevented from practicing their faith openly in 2016. Many are imprisoned or killed for their profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Are you and I prepared for increased discrimination and persecution here?

Today we are joined by Pastor Tom Doyle, who has spent 15 years as a Christian Missionary, and is VP and Middle East Director for e3 Partners based in Dallas, Texas. Tom has authored four books including his latest, Standing in the Fire: Courageous Christians Living in Frightening Times. Tom joins us to discuss how the gospel is being spread in the most dangerous places in the world.

Does North Korea fit in Biblical Prophecy?

Understandably when most Christians consider biblical prophecy we look to Israel and the growing tension in the Middle East. And while many events in the Middle East seem to be lining up prophetically, are we over looking a tiny nation in Asia with nuclear weapons who is threatening to destroy America and plunge the world into global war? We’re talking of course about North Korea. At least one pastor and student of biblical prophecy thinks it is a mistake to discount North Korea’s influence on end times prophecy.

Pastor Carl Gallups, a best-selling author and radio show host joins us to take a world-wide view of biblical prophecy and the increasing tension in the world.

Debating the Rapture in the Scriptures

One of the hottest debate topics among biblical scholars and students is over what is referred to as the rapture of the church in the final days of this world. A few Christians actually believe the rapture is a human imagination not even mentioned in the Bible, but most Christians believe the church will be raptured; some just disagree over the timing of it.

It certainly does appear that we might be drawing closer to the final days as we see a world in economic, social and military chaos. And Jesus warned us to be looking for the signs of the season pointing to His return. So how does the rapture of the true church fit into the final days before the Lord’s return?

Joining us is Dr. Andy Woods, a biblical scholar who has studied prophecy at length and written The Coming Middle East Meltdown detailing things to look for as we anticipate the return of our Lord and Savior. We also discuss Kingdom Now theology as well as Replacement theology as well as the importance of Israel as the Day of the Lord draws near.

The End Game in Syria and Israel

Many are wondering what the end game of leaders like President Trump and Russian President Putin might be in Syria and the Middle East. The U.S. attack on the air force base that Syrian President Assad used to attack his people with chemical weapons has the world on edge, and as the U.S. Secretary of State prepares to meet with Russian leaders today, an anxious world looks on hoping for a positive outcome that will avoid an escalation of war.

Hear what Gary Kay has to say on today’s program.

Discernment or Self-Destruction?

This morning on Stand Up For the Truth we read your comments and answer your questions from this week.  One central theme is discernment issues within Christianity.  Are we using proper biblical discernment or engaging in prideful witch hunts, looking to discredit others who we disagree with?  Also, several have chimed in regarding young people seeking “community” outside the confines of church. We discuss these and other topics of interest today.

First up, David covers our weekly Media watch segment, answering this question:  Why does secular media dedicate so much time to covering issues Americans say they don’t care about?

Controversial Issues in the Christian Church

Families and societies operate best when there are fixed standards of morality to guide our actions. In our nation, we were established upon the rule of law, supposedly giving us clear instruction what is acceptable or unacceptable behavior. As Christians we are guided by God’s Word which sets the ultimate standard for morality and acceptable behavior for us. But what happens when “normal” becomes subjective to personal feelings?

In the first segment today, we check in with Doug Wakefield of Best Minds, Inc. to keep an eye on world wide economic trends that point to globalism through a coming shake up in the world economy.

Is This the Future of America’s Churches?

Today we cover an intriguing article from Denver, Colorado about an “atheist church of free thinkers.” What is very interesting about the article is the words they use to describe their “community” are the same words that appeal to many young Christians these days: Free-thinking, questioning, skeptical, and conversational.

Is this the model for the future of church for our younger people? We discuss this with Dave Wager of Silver Birch ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute. Dave has worked with youth for 35 years.

The One Who Can Fix Our Problems in Public Education

In our final segment today we offer a solution to the Public Education mess we see as discussed from the crisis at Washington Middle School in Green Bay. The solution is simple, but not easy. It will require qualities sadly lacking these days: courage and conviction.

First up, we are joined by Brad Dacus of The Pacific Justice Institute to discuss legal cases threatening the religious freedom and conviction of Christians in our nation. Even his organization has been labeled a ‘hate’ group’ by the radical Southern Poverty Law Center. Has the Progressive/Marxist juggernaut grown so strong that it is inevitable? If not, what can we do to fight it and restore biblical principles in our nation?
