Double Speak: Islam, Feminism, and Eugene Peterson’s Flip Flop

Today, we will be discussing the controversial statement, and subsequent retraction, of Eugene Peterson’s endorsement of homosexual marriage as “biblical.” We will comment on an article from John Stonestreet at Breakpoint, a good perspective on why Christian leaders like Peterson are suddenly making confusing statements about homosexuality, and the damage it is doing to the Evangelical Church in America.

In our first segment we turn our attention to the emerging “double speak” of the left as it relates to Islam, Feminism, and progressive ideology in America. Why do liberals publicly support Islam, a system that stands against everything liberals value such as abortion, homosexuality and women’s rights? Ryan Mauro of The Clarion Project joins us to look at the hypocrisy of the left regarding Islam.

Is This the Future of America’s Churches?

Today we cover an intriguing article from Denver, Colorado about an “atheist church of free thinkers.” What is very interesting about the article is the words they use to describe their “community” are the same words that appeal to many young Christians these days: Free-thinking, questioning, skeptical, and conversational.

Is this the model for the future of church for our younger people? We discuss this with Dave Wager of Silver Birch ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute. Dave has worked with youth for 35 years.

Listener Questions & Media Watch Friday

‘Where can we find a good church?’ This is among the questions we will address in our Listener Questions segment today. Other questions and comments include, “What does being an Evangelical Christian really men these days?” and, “Is Islam really an Abrahamic Faith?” Segment two begins with a comment from a listener saying she was disgusted with yesterday’s program about the persecution of Jack Phillips, suggesting we are hateful and judgmental. We will respond.

David also takes us through our Media Watch segment, helping us discern the agenda and misleading information much of secular media throws our way. What sources can be trusted and how do we cut through the noise and agenda of the media and know what is really going on?

We will conclude with our “Rightly Handling the Word” segment, discussing just how seriously true Christians should view our sins against God–and why seeing them for how bad they are actually benefits us.

We Love America, But We Have Deep Concerns

In our final segment today I respond to an email from a listener accusing us of being judgmental and hypocritical in our assessment of secular media and our claim that Jesus will judge unrepentant sinners one day.  Our third segment should give great insight into how progressives think these days and how we respond with truth.

Pastor Randy White joins us to discuss America’s past, present and future as we prepare to celebrate our nation’s independence day.  The nation we love and are still blessed to live in has some serious problems that need to be addressed if we are to remain the land of the free and the home of the brave.  And the most serious of all is turning our backs on God and His perfect law and teachings. We discuss a sermon Randy gave on what he would like to say to the USA.

The Growing Hatred Against Biblical Christianity

Jesus clearly warned His disciples that the world would hate them because they hated Him first. His statement was true in the first century church and is truer than ever in the 21st century. This morning we cover a couple news stories that show just how far that hatred has gone.

One liberal columnist now says Christianity is “white supremacy disguised as religion”. And a woman has developed a new “LGBT Bible App” promoting “inclusiveness” within the church.

We also check in with William Murray of the Religious Freedom Coalition to discuss the plight of Christians in Iraq and Syria, and how Marxism has infiltrated American and even Christian thought.

Doubt, Skepticism and Confusion

Satan’s bag of tricks are not all that extensive. He usually sticks to the same tactic because it works. He placed doubt about God into Eve’s mind, and the result was sin and death entering the world. These days the tactic remains the same: Get people to doubt God and His Word, and convince them that we know better than God who we are and what is good. But today Satan has a variety of institutions to reinforce the doubt he wants to spread including media, public education, Hollywood, and even sometimes naive professing Christians.

Pastor Randy White joins us to discuss the growing skepticism about God in society and within the church, and how we combat it with sound theology and method.

Liberal Theology & Thought: A Cancer Spreading in the Professing Church?

We all celebrated when we thought Communism and Marxism had finally died with the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1989. Little did we know Marxism hadn’t died; it had only morphed into something more subtle but every bit as dangerous: the new progressive liberalism. This is tolerance and inclusiveness on steroids!

By all accounts Marxism has infiltrated our colleges and media under the nomenclature of progressivism. It’s bad enough our nation’s younger people open their arms to this dangerous deception, but a growing number of professing Christians and churches have openly embraced and promoted this system that directly contradicts most of the Bible’s teachings. On today’s program, Mike LeMay and David Fiorazo explore this dangerous movement and how it is not only being openly embraced by millions of American citizens, but by too many ‘professing’ Christians in our nation.

Assessing President Trump’s Efforts in the Middle East

This morning we look at President Trump’s visit to the Middle East to try to rally Muslim nations against ISIS and terrorism, along with his ambitious hopes to bring peace to Israel and its enemies. We will look at his efforts from biblical and pragmatic viewpoints, and discuss some writings by Christian author, Bill Koenig, a White House corespondent. In the first segment we check in with Dr. Cal Beisner of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation to look at the radical environmental movement and its real agenda.

The Next Generation that Will Lead the Church

Once Joshua died the nation of Israel began a steady decline that got so bad they eventually started worshiping a false god who actually required child sacrifice along with other things that God calls abominations.

In America we have seen a steady decline in the study and application of God’s Word and a growing number of churches that look more like social clubs instead of gatherings to worship God and equip one another for the works of the Holy Spirit. And in the next decade or so the current group of younger people called “millenials” will be leading our churches and our nation.

Dave Wager works with younger people as Director of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute, and joins us this morning for a frank discussion on the world view of Millenials and how we as their elders have shaped their beliefs and views. Jeff Strommen of HopeNet 360 and co-host of HopeNet Radio gives us the Millennial perspective today.

Church: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

In a world increasingly hostile to God and His Word, the importance of belonging to a strong, biblical church has never been greater. Sadly, an increasing number of churches seem to be looking for ways to compromise with secular culture in the hopes of growing their church. Many crucial, biblical issues are not being addressed for fear members might be offended and leave the church. But there are still many solid Christian churches out there who are staying true to God’s Word and refusing to give in to political correctness or conform to the world.

In our consumer driven mindset these days, we want what we want, when we want it. But has this mindset caused some to leave churches for the wrong reason? Is it all about us being fed and a church meeting our needs? What about serving the body of Christ? And how do we know when it might be time to find a new church, and what does a solid church look like?

Joining us today for an in depth look at the importance of strong Christian teachings and fellowship in the church is Pastor Randy White.

A Church on the Defensive

Today we look at another Christian survey as well as some disturbing news on just how far many professing churches and leaders have fallen. Some are deceived while others are deceiving people into moral relativism, false teachings, and abandoning the truth of God for the faulty wisdom of man. Christian churches should be affecting secular culture. Instead secular culture seems to be infecting many churches.

Discernment or Self-Destruction?

This morning on Stand Up For the Truth we read your comments and answer your questions from this week.  One central theme is discernment issues within Christianity.  Are we using proper biblical discernment or engaging in prideful witch hunts, looking to discredit others who we disagree with?  Also, several have chimed in regarding young people seeking “community” outside the confines of church. We discuss these and other topics of interest today.

First up, David covers our weekly Media watch segment, answering this question:  Why does secular media dedicate so much time to covering issues Americans say they don’t care about?

Controversial Issues in the Christian Church

Families and societies operate best when there are fixed standards of morality to guide our actions. In our nation, we were established upon the rule of law, supposedly giving us clear instruction what is acceptable or unacceptable behavior. As Christians we are guided by God’s Word which sets the ultimate standard for morality and acceptable behavior for us. But what happens when “normal” becomes subjective to personal feelings?

In the first segment today, we check in with Doug Wakefield of Best Minds, Inc. to keep an eye on world wide economic trends that point to globalism through a coming shake up in the world economy.

The One Who Can Fix Our Problems in Public Education

In our final segment today we offer a solution to the Public Education mess we see as discussed from the crisis at Washington Middle School in Green Bay. The solution is simple, but not easy. It will require qualities sadly lacking these days: courage and conviction.

First up, we are joined by Brad Dacus of The Pacific Justice Institute to discuss legal cases threatening the religious freedom and conviction of Christians in our nation. Even his organization has been labeled a ‘hate’ group’ by the radical Southern Poverty Law Center. Has the Progressive/Marxist juggernaut grown so strong that it is inevitable? If not, what can we do to fight it and restore biblical principles in our nation?
