Will America Experience Another Civil War?

In our final segments we cover a story of a Christian pastor who kicked a person dressed in drag out of his church in the middle of the service, and the backlash he is receiving on social media.

In our lead story we look at the political polarization of America, which has never been greater. In the past both parties agreed on what needed to be done while sometimes disagreeing on how to implement the vision, but today the gulf of ideas between Conservative and Liberal values is so great many feel they are irreconcilable. Some believe we are headed toward another Civil War.

We look at an article by Selwyn Duke of “The American Thinker” that paints a grim picture, giving evidence and warning to a coming political Civil War that will change America permanently. If our nation is indeed headed to a Civil War between Conservative and Liberal ideas what will be the outcome and how will it affect Christianity in America?

Political Issues Are Moral Issues: Elections and Christians

Today’s guest is author, pastor, and radio host Carl Gallups. He offers some solutions to the confusion about political issues and biblical issues Christians should be informed and concerned about. We discuss the Midterm election results, the spin of the liberal media, and the “migrant caravan” – how Mexico’s systems are being overwhelmed near the border.

In segment three, Mike and David discuss an article on the open agenda of Nancy Pelosi and the liberal Democrats to eradicate religious freedoms of Bible-believing Christians in America. No joke.

Listener Questions & Comments

Here are some of this week’s questions and comments from Stand Up for the Truth listeners:

You guys always have great discussions with people from Ratio Christi – what a solid ministry.

How do we best understand the topic of the eternal security of true believers?

I was an atheist and many people planted seeds in me through the years. I don’t think there is a ‘one size fits all’ method of evangelism. People are reached in different ways.

Regarding witnessing and the true conversion of young people such as college students, I think their faith often depends on discipleship and on what church they end up attending.

Loved your spirited discussion about praying for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg after she fell. It is both right to pray for her to be saved or healed as well as to pray for God to remove her from her position of influence on SCOTUS.

Your show has helped me find a new passion for the Old Testament, thank you.

Serious Christians better understand that Liberalism is not only a cancer to our country but also to Christianity.

To claim you love God more than anything but then blatantly disobey his clear teachings on life, marriage, and gender cannot be reconciled.

The Illusion of Radical Liberalism

One of the most sinister things a person can do is to brainwash someone into thinking they are in a crisis and that the only way to get out of it is to buy what they are selling, when in reality what they are “selling” actually brings the crisis to fruition. That is exactly the hoax being perpetuated on America and the Christian church by radicals and progressives. Create a crisis and then offer a solution that actually brings the crisis about. John Loeffler of Steel on Steel Radio really understands the liberal mindset and joins us to talk about this hoax.

A Shift in Educational Priorities

The traditional purpose of education was to give children the basic skills they would need in life to grow into productive members of society, and able to earn a living. But we have seen a slow but dramatic shift in what education looks like over the past few decades. To some the focus now seems to be a sort of political indoctrination of our children, touting globalism and progressive ideals at the expense of teaching our children how to critically think and make their own decisions. This shift in priorities presents huge challenges for the future of our nation. When students only learn one side of an important argument how will they be equipped to deal with problems and opportunities that arise in a rational way? Dr. Duke Pesta and Katie Petrick of Freedom Project Media and the educational, informative Dr. Duke Show, join us to discuss these challenges.

Growing Confusion, Fear and Violence

While God is a God of order, Satan is a master of deception, confusion and chaos. As our world continues to spin into confusion, it is apparent who is calling the shots: The accuser of the brethren, father of lies, and enemy of God. As Christians we should be able to see through the deception and fog, but too many believers seem to be spending less time in God’s Word and more time with things of this world. As a result, our vision becomes blurred to the point we cannot perceive and discern deception from truth. One interesting phenomenon we are witnessing is a self-proclaimed (formerly) “Christian Nation” having more people abandon biblical Christianity while in restricted and Muslim dominated nations, the gospel is being proclaimed and people are coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Elijah Abraham of Living Oasis Ministries is a former Muslim and now a passionate born-again believer who travels the world equipping Christians and church leaders to share the gospel in the Muslim world. He joins us to discuss what he is witnessing in both American churches and those in heavily Muslim nations.

One World Religion and Liberal ‘Christian’ Contradictions

Today’s guest is Don Veinot of Midwest Christian Outreach. He recently attended the Parliament of World religions and gives us an update including a bit of history on this unbiblical movement. The meeting in Toronto, Canada included a United Nations workshop espousing the view that our salvation (and the salvation of the earth) depends on man – on our ability to shed exclusion and embrace our “common oneness.”

“This is an event which few Evengelicals pay attention to and will sneak up on them in the future, especially with their association to the UN.” Don Veinot

Listener Comments & Questions Every Friday

Here are some of the topics and questions discussed today:

If we are no longer under that law, why do Christians teach that some parts of the law still apply while other parts do not apply?
What was Paul saying in Romans 14:23 when it states, “whatever is not from faith is sin?”
There are many aspects to taking one’s own life, but what is the right way to view suicide?
As a Californian, we are very concerned about the direction of our state and country. With the spread of apostasy we all need to be watchmen on the walls even more today.
Advice for Christian parents of a teenager that refuses to go to church.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg needs Christ and she should also step down. We are to pray for our enemies and for unbelievers, but at what point do we move on and wipe the dust off our sandals?
As Christians in the godless nation of Canada, we appreciate your ministry. It seems America is about 10 years behind us as we continue down the path of secularism.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s gracious concession speech and Scripture he shared should remind us of God’s sovereignty and the fact our purpose as Christians doesn’t change regardless of change in occupation.
Since our nation abandoned God’s principles, I am actually glad our nation has slid into socialism because it is helping us see who are the true and faithful Christians and churches, and which ones are selling out to man.

New Leadership Is On The Way

Some Christians are concerned about the new leadership poised to take power in Washington, D.C. as a result of this week’s elections. There is legitimate concern that this new leadership will be unfriendly toward Christians and the biblical values we are called to live by each day. The news media continues to debate if this was a “blue wave” or simply a temporary correction to the balance of power, but one thing we know for sure: There is a powerful “wave” ascending to leadership in our nation—today’s college students are the future leaders of our nation and what they are learning about God and Christianity does not bode well for our nation. But some people called by God are interceding and influencing tomorrow’s leaders in a positive way.

Jane Pantig is Co-Chapter Director at the University of California System for Ratio Christi Ministries. Jane joins us this morning to share some of the crucial questions today’s students are asking and the importance of giving them truthful, biblical answers to their questions.

Americans Have Chosen: What Does It Mean for Christians?

American citizens turned out in record numbers yesterday for the Midterm election, and we made our choices. The results are a mixed bag for both political parties and in the coming weeks both sides will spin the results to fit their talking points. And the biased media will certainly spin it to their advantage as well. But what significance, if any, do the results have on Christians in our nation? Our mission and purpose does not change, but we’ll look at some of the possibilities we may see in the next two years.

Clearing Up Confusion About Voting and Citizenship

Yes, it’s time to vote, again. Too many Christians in the United States are still confused about things that God’s Word is crystal clear about. It starts with the God of creation and His eternal existence. Marriage is between a man and a woman, life begins when God knits it in a mother’s womb, and there are only two genders, male or female.

God is a God of order while Satan is a master of chaos and confusion. The world we live in, which serves Satan, will try to confuse us on simple issues. It redefines words like love, tolerance and grace to confuse us and take our eyes off God. Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute joins us this morning to help us clear up the confusion the enemy uses to discourage people. We start off talking about Christians, government and voting.

We The People Elect Our Leaders

The Apostle Paul makes it clear that we are to honor and obey governmental authorities in our lives, as long as their orders do not contradict what the Bible teaches. In America we are blessed because we get to choose our leaders, the “Caesars” we are to submit to. Tomorrow (Tuesday) Americans will elect our government leaders for the next two years, and their motives for voting will be worldly. But as Christians, we are held to a higher standard. We should be electing leaders whose values and beliefs most align with God’s Word on moral and spiritual issues like abortion, marriage, family, freedom, sexuality and gender.

Our religious freedoms to openly profess and share our convictions continue to be on the line depending the outcome of this election. Radical Progressives have made it clear that Christians are to be seen but not heard. In our final segments we look at news stories that show just how intense the pressure is becoming on Christians to withdraw from the public arena. But first we check in with Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Council to discuss the choices Christians face in this election.

If Technology Becomes Our Master

The world is changing rapidly and the capabilities of technology are increasing at an alarming rate. Technological devices that serve us today could one day be used to monitor and control us.

Patrick Wood of Technocracy News joins Mike and David to look at some of the frightening scenarios in the coming years. Once Artificial Intelligence is “let out of the bottle” can anything stop it from being used to enslave us?

In our final segments, we look at some sad and shocking stories including how professing Christians continue to fall for theologies and beliefs that the Bible warns us about. This is not a joke, but we’ll discuss concerns about a self-proclaimed “Christian” Witch, and in another story, a modern-day “Prophet” of the Most High God.

Can a True Believer Lose His Salvation?

Can a true believer lose their salvation? This question has been debated for nearly 2,000 years and remains an issue that even theologians disagree on. It is an important discussion to have, because your beliefs can have a big impact on how you choose to live as a Christian.

Those who believe you can lose your salvation will point to the dangers of professing Christians becoming lazy in their faith or those who continue to sin without any perceived consequence since they believe in they cannot lose their salvation. What about the process of sanctification, how does that fit in this conversation? Those who believe in eternal security might look at others and think they are trying to be saved by their good works.

Pastor Mike Abendroth of No Compromise Radio joins us to see what the Bible says about the subject as well as how we have assurance of eternal life in Christ.

Former Atheist on Need for Christian Maturity, Apologetics

First time guest, Vas Avramidis, Ratio Christi chapter director at Rutgers University, joins us today. Being a former atheist, Vos quickly learned at college that most Christian students could not explain why they believed what they believe. He tried Buddhism, became a Wiccan, and even explored Hare Krishna before coming to faith in Jesus Christ.

He then realized how important and vital it was for Christians to not only share the gospel, but to disciple and prepare young people for the hostility toward Christianity on most college campuses. We also discuss a lack of maturity overall in the church today which goes right along with the high degree of biblical illiteracy. We’ll talk solutions.

Order vs. Chaos

God is a god of order. Satan is a master of chaos and the prince of this world. Christians are called to be light and salt to the world. How do we as disciples of Jesus Christ navigate this life in an orderly, biblical fashion when the world thrives on chaos and confusion? Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute joins us to discuss this challenging dilemma.

Dismissing Doctrine, Islam, Witchcraft

Last week, some media outlets covered a story of a group of Witches gathering to cast a curse on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Their curse called for him to suffer physically and emotionally and lead to his eventual death. The secular outlets that covered it mostly laughed it off as foolishness. But to dismiss witches casting spells may be foolish and ignorant as well. Should these curses be dismissed or taken seriously?

Elijah Abraham has traveled to dozens of countries sharing the gospel with Muslims, and equipping Christian pastors and leaders to share the gospel in their nations. Some of these nations are ones where witch doctors and spiritual shamans cast similar spells. Abraham also equips Christians in nations where going public with your Christian faith might be met with violent opposition. He joins us to share his ministry experiences, and to discuss the effectiveness and maturity of professing Christian Churches in our own nation as we continue to see compromise with the world.

Listener Questions & Comments

Questions, Comments, and a Call from Angry Listener

It’s Friday. There are always so many good questions and comments to get to, so her we go.

My daughter is 16 and wants nothing to do with church anymore, even though we raised her in church, the word, and prayer at home. She claims Christians are hypocrites and I fear she will be lost when she goes off to college.
I hear more Scripture in one hour on your show than I hear in a month coming from our pastor on Sundays.
Other than in Christ, is there any hope for our children and grandchildren to have a good life in such a dark culture driven by a godless, postmodern education system?
I am a “classical liberal” (not modern) but the primary reasons I vote for Republicans is they are pro-life and support free market capitalism.
Over the last several decades, we have been informed of how anti-Christian the progressive public schools are and that our children are being indoctrinated. Why is this not a bigger issue that Christians still send their children to such a hostile environment to be “educated”?
I am disappointed by your statements regarding the Ford/Kavanaugh allegations. You assume Kavanaugh is innocent, I believe Dr. Ford. Three people know the truth: Ford, Kavanaugh, and God.
The left doesn’t even know what “civil” means anymore. Their fruit is the opposite of truth: double-speak, hypocrisy, and often, outright lies.
I am a Christian and have supported the Democrat Party all my life, but cannot do so any longer. They are willing to destroy people to gain power. I was also supporting the killing of innocent children through abortion.
The #MeToo movement is causing many parents to be concerned for their sons in the future. We should raise sons of high moral character and integrity, but what about our daughters? They will be affected by this one-sided movement as well but I believe this should be a two-sided conversation in our society.
From that Barna survey you read, it sounds like many “professing born-again Christians’ are false converts that trusted an empty gospel of life enhancement.
I wish we would rethink denominations within Christianity. They seem to divide and do more damage than good, and often produce “fake Christians” – and impediment to true Christianity.

The Growing Complexity of Freedom of Speech

The constitutionally protected right of freedom of speech and expression used to be a pretty straight forward issue. But with the advent of social media, corporate “branding”, and a society that is easily offended it has become a much more complex issue.

This morning we look at a couple stories that point out the new reality facing us in a society that claims to value freedom of speech but is becoming increasingly intolerant of any view that opposes a humanistic, God-hating agenda.

In our first segment Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins us to discuss the challenges we as believers face in sharing the gospel with people currently blinded to the truth about God. Jay will discuss a common question we hear from people who doubt God’s existence: “If God created the universe, who crated God?”

What is Behind the Modern Liberal Curtain?

When you watch a movie with great special effects, what you see looks amazing (Buildings exploding, giant dinosaurs, super heroes flying). But when you look behind the curtain so to speak, and see how computer generated imaging produces these effects, the magic wears off and you realize it is all fantasy and illusion.

Today, we look at the hard core progressive movement in our nation and how it is built on contradiction and illusion, but sadly most Americans never take the time to look at what is actually going on or where we are being led. And this same deceit might just be infecting the very church you attend every Sunday.

John Loeffler of Steel on Steel radio is an authority on the real agenda and thought process of the hardcore Left joins us to help us take a peek behind the curtain of illusion that is modern Liberalism.

Quote from John Loeffler:

“Are we going to be a free society with the rights guaranteed under the Constitution of speech and religion and press and property – all of which have been under siege by judicial activism for the last 50 years – or will we go careening forward into some kind of oligarchic, progressive, socialistic dictatorship that we know from countries around the world that always fails with economic and social collapse?”

We discuss the difference between Left and Liberal, the contradictions within the very thinking of progressives, the long-term effects of the transgender movement and gender-fluid conditioning, and the failure of many churches to stand for the inerrancy of Scripture and biblical morality.

Postmodernism & America’s Failed Education System

Alarming things are going on behind the scenes in public education that many parents have no idea about while many others are too busy to care. Since the 1960s, the system has flipped on its head. Political correctness and postmodernism have ruled American education to the point that by the college level, there now exists an intolerance of opposing views if students do not support liberal ideology and the progressive left. Hostility toward Christianity has been cultivated for decades as well.

Today, Mike and David welcome back a very busy, Dr. Duke Pesta, host of the new Dr. Duke Show. Also in studio, we have first time guest, Katie Petrick, Freedom Project Media contributor and co-host of the Dr. Duke Show.

From Pre-K through graduate school, the Dr. Duke Show will keep you informed about the highly politicized world of modern education, alerting you to the dangers facing our republic under God due to generations of under-educated and wrongly-educated students. You can watch the Dr. Duke Show live ‘On Demand’ every Thursday at 2 pm Central time or on Freedom Project.com.

Listener Questions & Comments

No Comment or Question Off Limits

So many controversial issues and debates, so little time! Here’s what listeners want to discuss today:

To what level can a Christian be depressed?
How much does our faith play into our emotional and mental health, and how much depends on trusting God?
I know spiritual warfare is real because we are warned many times about it in the New Testament, but to what extent can demons influence Christians?
My strong hunch is that a majority of Americans have bought the lies about Justice Kavanaugh because they no longer think logically.
What do you think the greater problem in most churches is – ignorance in the pulpit or cowardice?
Didn’t know how extensive the Burning Man movement has become. It seems like a combination of New Age, humanism, environmentalism, and a combo of religions: can you please boil this ideology down so it’s easier to understand?
With all the division and spiritual confusion in the church, it’s no wonder many young people want nothing to do with Christianity today.
I’m a newer Christian, could you please explain Replacement Theology? Is it a salvation issue?
Hillsong’s stance on issues such as evolution, homosexuality, and seeker-friendly movement are concerning to the Australian Council of Churches. Hillsong produced some wonderful music, but as a whole they seem to have exchanged traditional, historical Christian doctrines to seek fame and fortune.
I’m a former Catholic and know some good Roman Catholic friends, even though many of their Church doctrines are unbiblical: can a Catholic go to heaven or not?

Mormon No Longer

In the final segment this morning, Mike and David look at an important announcement from leadership of the Mormon Church: they will no longer call themselves “Mormons” so they can, in their words, emphasize their “Christian” doctrine. Those of us who understand the Bible compared to the foundational beliefs of Mormonism realize this is pure deception, and we’ll explore the potential reasons they are making this change in name only.

We’ll also look at an interfaith religious coalition’s “Peace Caravan” headed to Israel to promote a peace treaty between Israel and the nations committed to her destruction.

In the first segment, we continue our look at “30 Biblical People You Need to Know” with Pastor Randy White. Our subjects include Saul, King David, Solomon, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, John the Baptist, Nehemiah, King Herod and Daniel.
