Jill Martin Rische: Kingdoms, Cults & Demons – Oh My!

Cults, deceptions, satanism, and the supernatural. Where do we start? How about in the Christian church? We are warned to come out from among them and be separate. Most of us would admit that the increasing spiritual darkness today goes hand in hand with the landslide of immorality and rebellion against God. Interest in demons, the occult, witchcraft, and the paranormal have never been so high.

We expect these things to be popular in a pagan society and among those who don’t know God. But what we are seeing more and more is the church opening up its door to one or more of these deceptions. This goes beyond false teachings although sound doctrine is of utmost importance to Christians. We’re talking about the demonic realm; about spiritual warfare.

The Dangers of Artificial Intelligence

AI, or “Artificial Intelligence” is making huge strides within the scientific community with many predicting that in the next decade or so it will present endless possibilities for the future of mankind. But many, including some on the inside of this pioneering work, are warning of extreme potential dangers as we trust AI with more and more of the duties God assigned to man.

We will also get to your comments about Christians participating in or celebrating Halloween. Is the chance to evangelize, or just give our children a night of fun, worth being a part of the festivities? Is Halloween redeemable? Our listeners have very strong opinions on this.

First segment, we check in with Don Veinot of Midwest Christian Outreach to discuss some of the ways we are being deceived by dialogue and discussions in society these days, and we also look at what Don calls “The worst sermon ever.”

Should Christians Participate in Halloween?

In our final segment this morning we look at the recently concluded “Global Oneness Summit”–a call to humanity uniting and taking its place as the divine. It is easy or tempting to just dismiss these people as half-baked “earth muffins”; but their influence reaches into media strongholds and moguls like Oprah Winfrey, who partners with the infamous Rob Bell and Pastor T.D. Jakes, giving Winfrey influence in the Christian Church. And the lure of this “oneness movement” thinking of ourselves as gods is consistent with the temptation of Adam and Eve that got us into this mess of sin, decay and death to begin with. One of the organizers and presenters, Matthew Fox, has profound influence within the Emergent Church movement and Red Letter Christians.

Next Tuesday young children dressed in costume will be knocking at our doors with the familiar refrain of “trick or treat” inviting us to give them candy. While the vast majority of children see Halloween as nothing more than an opportunity to fill up on candy, the history and significance of this “holiday” cannot be diminished nor should it be dismissed out of hand.

Kathi McCarty joins us this morning to discuss the history and tradition of Halloween and its direct connection to the occult. Kathi has extensively studied occult and New Age thinking and shares her thoughts about the pros or cons of Christians participating in Halloween, along with looking at how New Age and even the occult itself is infiltrating certain areas of professing Christianity.

Celebrating Evil, & Listener Friday!

The City of Manitowoc, Wisconsin kicks off its Windigo Fest tonight. “Windigo” is an American Indian folklore about a cannibalistic monster and evil spirit who allegedly possesses humans and becomes monstrous. There is even a modern medical term associated with it these days called “Windigo Psychosis.” Despite protests and concerns from some citizens, the city is allowing this dark event and some are very concerned the city is opening its arms to demonic presence and influence.

And guess who is kicking off the event? Opening with “some prayers for healing from the evil violence shaking our nation,” is a local Presbyterian pastor. So pastor, you are endorsing and participating in an event that celebrates violence and spiritual possession, while praying against violence in our nation?

We also share your comments and questions from the week, including comments from students who received varying reactions to bringing their bibles to school yesterday, gun control, understanding the liberal mindset, and what to do when your children argue with you about going to church.

Entertainment, Idolatry, and Loving Pleasure Instead of God

Christians are not immune from the darkness, temptations, and trials in this world. And yet, Paul told the early church to “come out from among them and be separate.” (2 Cor. 6:17) What agreement can there be between the temple of God and false idols? This may lead us to define and discern what exactly is an idol in our day and age.

How should we then live as Christians in a country such as America? Today we get to catch up with Pastor Joe Schimmel of Good Fight Ministries

Carl Teichrib: So Many Gods, so Much Deception

So many gods, so little time. There are well over 1.5 million Wiccans (over 3 million pagans, total) in the U.S. and these numbers are growing. Some are deceivers while many others are simply deceived, just looking for some kind of spirituality to practice. The increase of young people identifying themselves as neo-pagans and Wiccans is due in part to the media’s glorification of the supernatural, occult themes in Hollywood, and disillusionment with organized religion.

From national monuments to pagan deities and statues across North America, ancient gods and goddesses are all around us. Deception, idolatry, the occult, earth worship, satanism, and witchcraft have become common and to a great degree, accepted in our society. The question we should, however, ask is to what extent has it seeped into our churches?

Randy White: A Balanced Approach to a National Crisis

Today more than ever in history, America and the world needs theologically sound, Bible teaching churches, but they are more the exception than the norm. People need to see faith-centered, healthy responses to the coronavirus and government mandates during this time and always.

Will the church in general use this current pandemic to love our neighbors, preach the hope of Jesus Christ, and minister to those in need – or will we follow the crowd and hoard toilet paper, hand sanitizer, guns and ammo? The worrying world needs to see the power of God in believers lives that have been transformed by the renewing of our minds.

This just might be an answer to prayers for the repentance of our nation so let’s consider the very real possibility of a national revival and expect God to move.
