That’s a Great Question

We receive hundreds of emails and calls every month from listeners asking about certain topics that we might not have covered on air. This morning we share and discuss as many as we can in our “Great Question” segment.

In the first segment, we check in with Doug Wakefield of Best Minds, Inc. to discuss the tension between the U.S., Russia, China and North Korea and how it might affect markets and the world economy.

The Supreme Ruler is Above the Supreme Court

Today Mike and Dave discuss the heated battle over the confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court with guest, Julaine Appling. There are debates and fireworks over the possibility of the ‘nuclear option’ – which Harry Reid and the Democrats put in place – being used as a last resort in the face of opposition and filibusters. it’s just politics and this too shall pass.

Just as important is how Gorsuch will decide on issues and vote on cases presented to the Supreme Court once he is confirmed. We can speculate, but no one knows for sure. What we do know is Washington D.C. is just as divided as our nation politically and spiritually.

Apostasy & Lies: Will Fans of ‘The Shack’ Care?

Can we at least agree, as Christians, to hold up Young’s words and beliefs against the truth of God’s Word revealed to us in Scripture? As we approach this program today, we should ask what your thoughts are and do you think Young’s description ad understanding of God line up with the Bible or contradict it?

The Shack appeals to our human desire to be loved and forgiven, but it discounts what is required by God: confession and repentance. The movie plays right into the growing mindset in America about wanting benefits without responsibilities. It’s overall message is that God conforms to us instead of our need to be transformed into the image of Christ which produces holy living. The Shack is the prefect message for people who want to think we are all basically good in nature and character.

The ‘Church’ Infecting Christianity: Where Did the Emergent Church ‘Emerge’ From?

Liberalism, humanism, and secularism are growing cancers in both church and culture so let’s not ignore the causes. Let’s get out of our comfort zones and take a stand for Christ. The spiritual battle rages all around us and the enemy is on our doorstep. Satan has been at work at a church near you spreading his deceptions. The good news is that we are on to his schemes…

Just How Low Can Humanity Sink?

In our final segment this morning we cover a tragic story of what can happen when people are taught that human life is an accident of the universe instead of life created by God in His image. A group of teenagers in Florida saw a man drowning, and instead of trying to help him they recorded the event on social media, mocking him as he splashed around. Now, two young daughters are without their father.

First up, we talk with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project and discuss his article, “A Simple Approach to Sharing Your Faith.” Have we made sharing the gospel something we dread instead of enjoy doing? What are some ways we can open up a discussion with anyone, offering them the hope of eternal life with God?

Discernment or Self-Destruction?

This morning on Stand Up For the Truth we read your comments and answer your questions from this week.  One central theme is discernment issues within Christianity.  Are we using proper biblical discernment or engaging in prideful witch hunts, looking to discredit others who we disagree with?  Also, several have chimed in regarding young people seeking “community” outside the confines of church. We discuss these and other topics of interest today.

First up, David covers our weekly Media watch segment, answering this question:  Why does secular media dedicate so much time to covering issues Americans say they don’t care about?

Controversial Issues in the Christian Church

Families and societies operate best when there are fixed standards of morality to guide our actions. In our nation, we were established upon the rule of law, supposedly giving us clear instruction what is acceptable or unacceptable behavior. As Christians we are guided by God’s Word which sets the ultimate standard for morality and acceptable behavior for us. But what happens when “normal” becomes subjective to personal feelings?

In the first segment today, we check in with Doug Wakefield of Best Minds, Inc. to keep an eye on world wide economic trends that point to globalism through a coming shake up in the world economy.

Is This the Future of America’s Churches?

Today we cover an intriguing article from Denver, Colorado about an “atheist church of free thinkers.” What is very interesting about the article is the words they use to describe their “community” are the same words that appeal to many young Christians these days: Free-thinking, questioning, skeptical, and conversational.

Is this the model for the future of church for our younger people? We discuss this with Dave Wager of Silver Birch ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute. Dave has worked with youth for 35 years.

The One Who Can Fix Our Problems in Public Education

In our final segment today we offer a solution to the Public Education mess we see as discussed from the crisis at Washington Middle School in Green Bay. The solution is simple, but not easy. It will require qualities sadly lacking these days: courage and conviction.

First up, we are joined by Brad Dacus of The Pacific Justice Institute to discuss legal cases threatening the religious freedom and conviction of Christians in our nation. Even his organization has been labeled a ‘hate’ group’ by the radical Southern Poverty Law Center. Has the Progressive/Marxist juggernaut grown so strong that it is inevitable? If not, what can we do to fight it and restore biblical principles in our nation?
