Fear and Faith

The Bible has much to say about faith, and the things we put our faith in will either disappoint us or lead us to joy and peace. The Bible also has much to say about fear. And the things we truly fear say a lot about our professed faith in God. Jesus said we are to fear God, but we also have the assurance of His lovingkindness as a Father. How do we reconcile faith and fear according to God’s Word?

This morning we go to God’s Word to discuss biblical faith and fear with Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute.

God is Faithful

We hear it proclaimed almost every time we gather in Christian fellowship: “God is faithful!” There is certainly peace and security in knowing we worship the one true God who cannot lie or contradict Himself, and whose eternal nature and attributes are unchanging. It should give us great peace to know God cannot break His promises and that He provides a consistent message for us as His adopted children.

But is God’s faithfulness conditional upon us in any way, shape or form? Can he be moved or manipulated by our level of faith? And just what is God faithful to do for both those who commit to Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, and those who reject Him? Dave Wager of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute joins us for a discussion on the role of faith in the Christian life, and God’s faithfulness.

Though I Walk Through The Valley

Where hard times are concerned, what are our expectations of this life and of God and are they based on Scripture and justified or are our expectations selfish and focused on this temporary life? No matter what happens, we must remember He if faithful, His word is truth, and God alone is sovereign over all people and events.

Pastor Mike Abendroth is back with us today and after we discuss the spiritual principles from God’s Word on how to keep the faith during times of trial, he has a personal testimony to share about a challenge he is going through right now. You are not going to want to miss this message of hope and Abendroth’s biblical perspective!

In our Media Watch segment, we tackle one of the most common types of liberal media bias: Story Selection. We see it on a daily basis. Bias by story selection occurs when we see a pattern of highlighting news stories that coincide with the agenda of the left while ignoring stories that coincide with conservative social issues and concerns.

What do you mean, ‘God is Sovereign’?

When we claim to know and love God, but cannot give an answer when tragedy happens around us, we look foolish to the world. When Rob Bell was doing a book tour for “Love Wins”, he appeared on MSNBC to promote his book right after the tragedy in Japan where a tsunami killed hundreds of people. Martin Basheer of MSNBC asked Bell a question: “With this tsunami that killed hundreds of people—did it happen because God was not powerful enough to prevent it or because He didn’t care that hundreds would die?” Bell fumbled around, as he usually does on any deep theological question and then just said something like “Well some things are just best left alone and not talked about…” Rob Bell missed a golden opportunity to share the gospel with millions of viewers that day, but given his misguided theology we have no reason to believe he would have presented the true gospel anyway.

But the point is that the sovereign nature of God, along with man’s ability to have free will and make decisions on his own, is an important issue we should discuss and understand to the best of our ability so we can answer serious questions unbelievers—and even Christians—may have when tragedy strikes.

Our guest this morning Pastor Mike Abendroth of No Compromise Radio joins us to discuss what it means that God is sovereign and how we reconcile that with the fact God has given men free will to act.

Today, we look at Abendroth’s previous book, The Sovereignty and Supremacy of King Jesus: Bowing to the Gracious Despot.

Creation, Evangelism, and Humbly Answering Skeptics

“Everything is built on our starting point… that God exists, and the Bible is His inspired Word.” Jay Seegert

Today we catch up with Jay Seegert of the Creation Education Center in Wisconsin, and we discuss the importance of humility in our interactions with people, particularly when sharing the gospel or talking about creation. Being prepared to respond to questions is important, but just as important is asking questions and listening to the other person so we know how to directly address their concerns. We’ve probably all done this: when the other person is speaking, we’re not really listening – we’re just waiting for our turn and often don’t hear what was just said.

The bottom line is the authority of Jesus Christ and Scripture. It doesn’t matter as much what we think; what does God’s Word say?

The Dangers of “Changing” Genders & Today’s Entertainment

With the insanity of the transgender movement and its growing acceptance by Americans and policy enforcement by the government, a prominent medical organization has weighed in to set the record straight. This morning we cover a report by The American College of Pediatricians that says assisting children in “changing their gender” is actually child abuse – and ultimately destructive to them.

We also look at a Wisconsin technology company that is implanting microchips into its employees. Is this a glance at end-times prophecy, all with the promise that there is nothing to worry about?

In our first segment today, we are blessed to have in-studio guest, Tina Marie of Counter Culture Mom and discuss how we can protect our children from the dangerous ideas of Hollywood, television, the publishing industry, and video games.

If Saul Alinsky Was Alive Today

Saul Alinsky, a radical liberal and agnostic, wrote the blueprint on how to introduce chaos through community organizing in hopes of overthrowing the government of the United States by undermining its foundational systems: government, public education, media, and the church. His book Rules For Radicals spells out how people should organize and force change through misinformation and intimidation. In his book he acknowledges the “first radical known to man: Lucifer.”

Today we explore two questions: First, what would Saul Alinsky think if he were alive today? And second, how could a man who admired Lucifer have such a strong influence – not only in our nation but also in too many American Christian Churches?

We’re joined this morning my John Loeffler, a fifty year veteran of broadcast journalism and born-again follower of Jesus Christ. John is in his 25th year of hosting Steel on Steel radio–a news talk program that looks at today’s events through the lens of the Bible.

Just How Low Can Humanity Sink?

In our final segment this morning we cover a tragic story of what can happen when people are taught that human life is an accident of the universe instead of life created by God in His image. A group of teenagers in Florida saw a man drowning, and instead of trying to help him they recorded the event on social media, mocking him as he splashed around. Now, two young daughters are without their father.

First up, we talk with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project and discuss his article, “A Simple Approach to Sharing Your Faith.” Have we made sharing the gospel something we dread instead of enjoy doing? What are some ways we can open up a discussion with anyone, offering them the hope of eternal life with God?

Discernment or Self-Destruction?

This morning on Stand Up For the Truth we read your comments and answer your questions from this week.  One central theme is discernment issues within Christianity.  Are we using proper biblical discernment or engaging in prideful witch hunts, looking to discredit others who we disagree with?  Also, several have chimed in regarding young people seeking “community” outside the confines of church. We discuss these and other topics of interest today.

First up, David covers our weekly Media watch segment, answering this question:  Why does secular media dedicate so much time to covering issues Americans say they don’t care about?

Controversial Issues in the Christian Church

Families and societies operate best when there are fixed standards of morality to guide our actions. In our nation, we were established upon the rule of law, supposedly giving us clear instruction what is acceptable or unacceptable behavior. As Christians we are guided by God’s Word which sets the ultimate standard for morality and acceptable behavior for us. But what happens when “normal” becomes subjective to personal feelings?

In the first segment today, we check in with Doug Wakefield of Best Minds, Inc. to keep an eye on world wide economic trends that point to globalism through a coming shake up in the world economy.
