The Art of Christian Apologetics

Knowing what the Bible teaches is one thing. Explaining it to others is another. We need to be reminded that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation.  We can over-complicate it, but it is important to be prepared to share the basics or the essentials of the faith, as well as being ready to give an answer someone may ask about our hope in Christ.

This is why biblical apologetics is crucial in the times in which we live. Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins Mike and David to share what he has learned in his years of being an apologist and evangelist.

How Christian Students Handle Argumentative Atheist Teachers

Our youth are headed back to school—grade school, high school or college.  There is a good possibility they may run into atheist teachers who will present theories and “teachings” that contradict the Word of God.  How can we prepare our Christian students for a potential onslaught of propaganda and secular theory that will encourage them to abandon the Word of God for what is presented as “scientific fact” these days?

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins Mike and Crash this morning to share ideas on how we can equip our students to respectfully interact with public school teachers. They also touch on Jay’s Question of The Month from his website.

Jay Seegert: Zeal without Knowledge

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins Mike and Crash this morning to look at some beliefs of Christians that are just not found in the Word of God and the importance of making sure our zeal is well grounded in truth and supported by the Bible.  Jay also discusses the amazing complexity of the human body, pointing to the truth that we were fearfully and wonderfully made by God and not a random act of nature.

The Condition of the American Church – Part 2

Wednesday, we aired the first hour of a conversation with former muslim, now born-again evangelist/missionary Elijah Abraham and Apologist Jay Segert of The Starting Point Project when they were in town for our Watchman Conference. Today, this tough conversation continues.  Mike and our guests discuss the challenges and the possible future of “organized church” in America.

Is the Earth Young, Old, or Something in Between?

Mike and David visit with Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project to discuss the controversy around aging televangelist Pat Robertson calling Christians who believe in a Young Earth “an embarrassment.”  They also discuss the growing controversy in a few circles that are now claiming perhaps the Earth is flat after all. Really.Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear suggested recently that Christians who support President Trump might be “winking at sin” to promote their political agenda.  As expected he is receiving some push back for his statement. What did he mean? And how about liberal Democrat Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand claiming that protecting babies in the womb (being pro-life) is not the Christian thing to do!

An Unclear Battle Cry from Church Leadership

Make no mistake: as Christians we are at war with this world. No, we do not use the world’s weapons or tactics, but Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10 that we have divine (spiritual) weapons able to to destroy arguments and lofty opinions of this world that are opposed to God and truth.

But many are wondering why a growing number of church leaders are not calling and equipping believers to fight this crucial spiritual battle for the eternal souls of our friends and neighbors. Where are the leaders rallying, challenging, and equipping Christians for this battle? We seem intent on looking more and more like the world we are supposed to win to Christ.

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins us to talk about the crucial need for church and family leadership in these days of growing confusion and evil.

Are We Losing an Entire Generation to the Enemy?

As public education, media, and government have become clearly opposed to God in the preceding decades, we have reached a point in time when Christianity has gone from the prevailing belief system in our nation to one that is under intellectual assault at every turn.

Our children are immersed and indoctrinated by a public education system and entertainment industry that claims to offer them hope and truth when in reality, it is leading them to confusion and hopelessness. Yet many of us are concerned that the Church, which should be a beacon of light and truth set apart from the despair of this world, is actually being conformed to this world instead of being set apart from it.

This has been the result of rampant biblical illiteracy among a growing number of professing Christians that actually believe Jesus sinned while He was on earth. And if we believe Jesus actually sinned, what does that say about our belief in who God is and what He expects from us who claim to be His children?

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project travels the world defending the faith, talking about the truth of God’s Word and how we can combat the propaganda and lies being spread. Much of it comes back to the Genesis account in Scripture. Jay joins us this morning to talk about the state of biblical illiteracy infecting American Christianity and the effects it is having on young people—the future leaders of our nation and churches.

Did God Use Evolution as His Process of Creation?

The number of Christians who trust the authority of the Bible and are truly taking a stand for what they believe is rapidly decreasing. Many churches that were once stalwarts for the faith have slowly compromised, moving into obscurity, becoming either irrelevant, or in some cases actually hostile to the Bible. This doesn’t happen overnight, but rather through deception and sometimes subtle teachings that gradually erode their views on the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.

One of these slippery slopes is related to the origins account found in the book of Genesis. There’s a view that has been around for quite a long time, but has recently made a resurgence within evangelical circles. This is the idea that perhaps God didn’t actually do things as literally and simply stated in Genesis 1-2, but used more of a “natural” vs “supernatural” process (tenets of Darwinian evolution). Sadly, this is becoming increasingly popular not only in churches, but also in Christian seminaries, colleges and universities.

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins the program to discuss some unbiblical ideas being considered in some Christian circles.

The Obsession With Finding Extraterrestrial Life

The U.S. spend billions of dollars every year on space exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life. Hollywood produces and people watch film after film suggesting we are not alone in the universe. There’s something fascinating about the unknown. But scientists, a majority of whom are atheists, hoping to validate their theory of life on other planets, need only look to God’s Word.

Jay Seegert of the Starting Point Project is today’s guest, here to discuss our obsession with alien life, and how we answer skeptics who use this argument: “If God created man then who created God?”

In our final segment, Mike and David look at backlash a Christian Church in Canada is receiving for exercising biblical church discipline on a member who has admitted she is a lesbian.

The Growing Complexity of Freedom of Speech

The constitutionally protected right of freedom of speech and expression used to be a pretty straight forward issue. But with the advent of social media, corporate “branding”, and a society that is easily offended it has become a much more complex issue.

This morning we look at a couple stories that point out the new reality facing us in a society that claims to value freedom of speech but is becoming increasingly intolerant of any view that opposes a humanistic, God-hating agenda.

In our first segment Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins us to discuss the challenges we as believers face in sharing the gospel with people currently blinded to the truth about God. Jay will discuss a common question we hear from people who doubt God’s existence: “If God created the universe, who crated God?”

Why Don’t We Share the Gospel More Frequently?

Jesus said, “If you love me you will obey all I command (John 14:15).” His final command was for His followers to share the gospel and make disciples. With few exceptions, most of us only talk about God when it is convenient or we ‘feel led’ to do so. Why are Christians in America not more passionate about sharing the good news with those who are perishing?

Is it shyness? A desire to please man rather than God? Not wanting to offend others? Not wanting to be seen as judgmental? Are we just too busy? Or could the deeper reason be that we are afraid of the repercussions like we see happening to our Brothers and Sisters in China, India and around the world?

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins us to discuss our reasons for not sharing the gospel and how we can overcome our hesitancy and inconsistency.

The Great Tribulation & Return of Christ: Matthew 24

Three times in this sermon alone, Jesus mentions false teachers will deceive “many.” Also, the utter destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem was a prophecy, not a “sign,” it was a judgment of God on the Jewish people for rejecting the Messiah. Persecution often reveals traitors within the Church as well as enemies outside, and the test of any age is endurance. Those who endure to the end will be saved and the gospel must first be preached as a witness to the nations, then comes the end.

Gathering Storms of War in the Middle East

The Bible teaches us that in the final years before our Lord’s return there would be a large, destructive war against Israel by her enemies.  Could we be witnessing the stage being set for the final chapter of Earth’s history before the Lord Himself returns to judge mankind and establish his everlasting kingdom?

Gary Kah of Hope for the World joins Mike to discuss the events that seem to be pushing the world one step closer to the return of our Lord and Savior?

Who Wants to be God?

The race is on, just as the Bible foretold.  Various individuals, groups and organizations are speeding ahead trying to convince people that the God of the Bible either doesn’t truly exist, or that He would want us to come together and connect the “Christ consciousness” in each of us so that human beings can create utopia on earth. Today we take a closer look at the “oneness” movement, the age of re-enchantment, earth worship, and the openness to practically anything except biblical Christianity.

Carl Teichrib, who has studied the New Age and the various movements and organizations promoting spiritual unity and “oneness” joins Mike and David to discuss ecumenism, the World Council of Churches, Catholicism and Islam, the UN, Burning Man, and the World Parlament of Religions. Carl also provides insights from his extensive research contained in his latest book Game of Gods: The Temple of Man in the Age of Re-Enchantment.
